Apple TV Plus content no longer plays in Dolby Vision

I reported this issue to Apple Support today. I have a samsung qe65q9fn which doesn’t have Dolby vision support but should okay standard HDR10, but this is only for some content. See episode 1, HDR, episode 2 SDR. Morning show all HDR, truth be told all SDR.

Folks you need to report these issues through the Apple support app, glad it’s not an issue with my TV.

So Dolby vision came back to my Apple TV+ plus app for tha last two weeks for the Apple TV plus shows like see etc. Now tonight boom. No HDR at all..... back to SDR only.

anyone else test please?

Strangely, all the films I bought on Apple TV still play in full Dolby vision.

If you're talking about the FireTV Stick 4K:

the Apple TV app for the FireTV currently doesn't support Dolby Vision at all. The support for this feature will be added with a later update. See here for more details.

It should support HDR10 though. But I've just tested it myself, some (not all!) ATV+ shows seem to play in HD with SDR instead - others seem to play with 4K + HDR10.

I've also tested it via AirPlay 2 and all the ATV+ shows just play fine in 4K + DV.

So it's not a general issue as it was before where you couldn't play any ATV+ content but the trailers in 4K + DV on a Apple TV 4K or via AirPlay 2.

Yes sorry I meant the shows stopped playing in HDR again. No HDR flag appears on my LG oled E8 tv and you can tell it is only being displayed in SDR.

i trues this on a few shows from Apple tv+ and none of them now play in HDR. All epsisodes.

a few weeks ago when I first used the Apple TV + app all the shows played in 4k HDR. Then they stopped playing in HDR (as reported widely) then it started to work in HDR again for last couple of weeks and then as I I said last night back to SDR only.

Atmos works for me and was working even when DV was not.

I see you are using AirPlay. AirPlay does not support Atmos, per Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204069

What’s weird is the mat before playing it it shows d vision. But once it start the logo is out and shows HDR

I just noticed that although the show pages still have the Dolby Vision logo, the individual episodes now just say HDR. (While an episode is playing, hit Menu.)

It may be possible that this is just a glitch and will be resolved with time.

Exactly, I have the problem stesos from the other day. the trailers and dickinson are still the dolby vision.

Same problem here! I can confirm the exact same issue that is being described here. And my region is Switzerland so I guess it’s not just a local problem.

It goes deeper than that. I have tested Roku Fire tv also and they both dont even support regular hdr. Before the 22nd they both worked .

Same issue. Dolby Vision worked last week. This week it works in other apps just fine (Disney+) but Apple TV+ content no longer comes in as Dolby Vision. The same is true of past episodes as well.

Has anyone officially reported this to Apple? Cause we’re just talking to ourselves here in the Forum..

I’m having the exact same issue. Apple TV to AV receiver to LG Oled C6. See in HDR, Dickinson in DV.
