Magic Mouse 13.4 scrolling.

Does anyone else have the issue of using an original Magic Mouse (1)A1296 with iPadOS 13.4 and can’t get it to scroll using the gesture?

Is there something I can do to fix it? Or is this just the way to force us vying MM2?

turn on/off, re-pairing doesn’t help at all.

I also get this warning:

iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi, Cellular

As per https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211008 "iPadOS doesn't support scrolling or other gestures with Apple Magic Mouse (1st generation) and Magic Trackpad (1st generation)". This is unacceptable and there is no way this is a "Hardware" restriction as the mouse sends a digital signal to the computer (or iPad) and the software is responsible for translating and executing the instructions. I really never say this (or feel this way about Apple) but this is a perfect example of Apple restricting something for no reason other than to get you to purchase a new product. All they need to do is (for lack of a better way of putting it) unlock this feature. It isn't even a feature, it is something Mice have been doing for decades.... As I did, all you can do is put in feedback at apple.com/feedback and maybe if enough people complain they will fix it.... Very unnecessarily frustrating...

Sure, my point exactly, this used to work in previous version so by upgrading I have lost ability to navigate websites. It also doesn’t work in chrome. Apple are forcing people to buy new hardware.

the iPad still fails to replace my windows machine. It is simply not as versatile and its uncomfortable to hold it sitting on a chair like the way steve jobs demonstrated on the first ipad release. They should have opted for a 16:9 foam factor. I suggested this to them years ago and no acknowledgement as you would expect from a giant.

seriously, this year i’m thinking of switching. My MBP sits on a shelf with a keep alive HdMI dongle and still doesn’t have the decency to stay alive and connected to the network so I can remote to it from a windows machine. The battery is screwed on that.

hate how iphone force closes apps And you have to keep the app in focus when rendering or sharing media wished it had a progress handler like android has.

This is ridiculous, and can't be seen as a plain money grab from Apple! Both Magic Mouse 1 and Magic Track Pad 1 work with all the gestures available for the recent models in Mac OS. This is insane and shameful Apple!

I've just sent feedback to Apple about this. I urge everyone to do the same. I mean, the world is on the verge of a gigantic economic crisis and they want to force people but buy new expensive peripherals. It's a joke

Same problem. I just bought a new iPad Air about a week ago. I have been using a Kindle Fire 10 like a laptop with keyboard and mouse for about three years and it has been great but I thought I would move up to iPad. So far I am sorry I spent the money. The Kindle was bought on sale for $100. The iPad was hundreds of dollars and so far I still like the Kindle better. The mouse works on the Kindle just like any other computer and was fair on the iPad, till............13.4 . Now the scroll works very poorly and just not as good as before 13.4. I thought maybe my scrolling wheel was going bad so I tried it back on the Kindle Fire and it works perfect there. Scroll slow and fast and smooth. On the iPad it won't scroll slow and not smooth. It's terrible!! I too get the warning message. So far to me at least the iPads are totally over rated. Hope they can fix it . I am not a gamer I just want to do basic word processing and Bible study. If the simple Android machine has been doing the mouse and keyboard for years, why can Apple do the mouse thing. I'll just park the iPad for now and hope Apple can do something. I am a iMac fan for sure but the iPad is a real disappointment. Especially for the money they get for them. I am wishing now I had just oped for a new model Fire at a fraction of the price.

Guys, it’s even worse.

The mouse really messes up with Bluetooth and Wifi! When I have the MM1 connected and trying to watch a video, the playback is stuttering and sound almost totally gone (using Airpods). All hardware from Apple and so much trouble. Geez.

Getting me into “love+hate” relationship with Apple.

It’s like a person who you really like, who is great most of the time, but sometimes dissapoints so badly.

I agree this is unacceptable from an awesome company like Apple. What’s the point of finally allowing the Magic Mouse to connect to the iPad if you can’t scroll with it LOL. Kind of takes a way the functionality of the mouse, I’m not using the mouse until it can scroll

And I don’t want to use assistive touch! I want the mouse to work on its own without having that annoying home button everywhere on my iPad. Let’s just update it to work like a mouse on a computer, scroll, right click, multitasking/app quitting with double tap... it should be the next thing they are working on... asap hopefully.
