Logic Pro X keeps crashing after Catalina update

Every time I delete a track on Logic Pro X the whole thing crashes and I have to force quit and reopen. How can I fix this/when will they update the app or the OS?

The important part is at 2:05 basically all you have to do is open a project click File -> Save As... -> Select "Folder" instead of "Package" -> then Save. After this I was finally able to delete tracks and audio files without Logic crashing.

Hope this helps!

Ooh, nice. Excellent ideas--I particularly like the one about bouncing to another track. Didn't end up needing to do that, but I'm going to remember it for the future.

I closed some other applications (including the largest memory hog, Apple Music), plugged in the Scarlett, deleted the .mp3 track and reimported it, then immediately dragged it to a new track. And that did the trick, Logic is now doing simple stuff like changing the volume on the fly. Hopefully the rest will go smoothly.

Thanks very much for the excellent suggestions, I really appreciate your efforts to get me straightened out. Cheers!

This is what I think also, I have been putting off buying a new computer for ages because of all these problems I am reading about more and more, Its totally unprofessional.

Having said that, I know 3 people with the latest Logic and Catalina who not experiencing problems, so I guess it depends on what configuration/spec your set up is.

Whatever, a professional app with an up to date OS should not be crashing every time you delete a track.

Sorry to hear about this Viktor26, I really hope you can get things sorted ASAP.

Myself and a few others on this board still have Older Mac Pros running Snow Leopard and Logic 9 as commercial machines, mine has a UAD dsp card. Also have an iMac running Sierra and Logic 10.4.4, very stable. Its just not feasible to chase the upgrade path it's a constant source of instability and a soul-sucking time waster, even more so as Apple transitions MacOS and iOS under a single development platform. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Thank you for taking the time to write this info, sounds like you are having a nightmare.

It really does confirm that having a stable system is paramount.

The time spent trying to get things to work when you could be writing is crazy, I wonder if people are starting to move to Windows and a different DAW after reading all these threads?

I have been due a new system for a year or so now, but I am totally paranoid about upgrading. I thought I had it all sorted when I ordered a 2019 iMac (with Mojave and no T2 chip) earlier this year, but then I pulled out because of losing all my work due to Covid and getting no government support here in UK, moan rant...

Anyway, I have just stuck with my old system, a 2015 Macbook Pro and Logic 10.3.2 on El Capitan, I am missing out on many new features but my system is totally stable (for me anyway), at least I can get songs written/recorded. I have third party plug ins which cause no issues.

If I am in the position to up grade again, then I will look for a slightly older system, which doesn't have Catalina, I don't care if a certain OS is not supported, as long as the system is stable.

I really hope you can get things sorted in some way, this is the last thing you need when trying to be creative. Good luck.
