MBP 16" 2019 CRASHES WHILE SLEEPING

ANYONE else having a problem with their MacBook Pro going to sleep then crashing? EVERY single day for 4 days now this prompt comes up that says "Your computer was restarted because of a problem." I Purchased a fully loaded 16" MacBook Pro January 2020. A $5000.00 Computer. I have had NOTHING but issue since. The report begins with panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8004a91b2c): Sleep transition timed out after 180 seconds while calling power state change callbacks. Suspected bundle: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily. Thread 0x1fbc0. After searching I see 582 people have this same problem...REALLY APPLE? Suggestions were made to others who called apple support and they reinstalled their entire systems, reinstalled this, reinstalled that...I don't know about anyone else but I don't have time for all of that nonsense ESPECIALLY after spending $5k on a computer. Finally I found where a person requested the logic board to be replaced and the issue stopped. If Apple can't get their quality assurance in check I will be spending my money elsewhere. I want this computer replaced.

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9

64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB

Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I also ended up having my 16 inch 2019 MacBook Pro sent in to Apple under AppleCare to fix the problem. Same things replaced on mine as on others who have reported: Logic Board and TouchID Boards both replaced. It was a pretty quick process taking only about 3-4 days (despite a warning of possibly taking 2 weeks.)

Everything working fine at this point.

If you have the same computer (regardless of specs as this is a problem independent of that) I would recommend sending your computer in before any AppleCare coverage runs out.

For real yevhen114 , and posting that five times doesn't confirm the variables I alleged. He states he still has the issue with power nap disabled but doesn't confirm the other variables. yevhen114 are you on a 16" Macbook Pro 2019 on 10.15.6 with power nap disabled for both battery and plugged in power profiles?

If someone is still having these issues with the those three conditions being met, then I'd be curious about what other factors are in play.

I am having the same issue. I too purchased the loaded Macbook pro at the beginning of the year for $5000. After a long call with Apple Care, they recommended that I bring it in for servicing. They had to replace the logic board, the touch bar, and the battery. It worked well for awhile, but began to crash all the time when it's in sleep. I have reinstalled the software countless times, reset the SMC, gone through to make sure all apps are up to date, deleted a bunch of old files, and still nothing. Here is the beginning of what I get after every crash. if anyone has a recommend, I'm all ears. I make my living working on this computer, so I really need it solved.

Sep 30, 2020 8:19 AM in response to stormkat

I have the same computer bought in Jan2020 and have the same problems. Several days with apple support in evaluation efforts including reloading all Software made no change. I have loaded all new software with no change. I have not had time to go back to Apple support and I have not been willing to send my computer in for repairs. I just did a search today and discovered this thread. Appears equipment repairs have not helped others. I will try turning off power nap. I have just lived with the daily crashing. Not happy but stuck and don't like any alternative. Apple must be receiving tons of crash reports on this issue. Apple support did not indicate to me that this problem was as large as it seems to be. THANKS to all the input by others. Hopefully Apple will fix it.

Here too- crashes at sleep. In total about 4 times a day. (iMac, Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017) I have reinstalled OS, updated OS (s) made numerous calls to Apple, took the computer into "Genius Bar"....they have over and over claimed it to be a "software issue"....funny that software changes are NOT fixing this issue. To say that I am frustrated is an understatement. Apple I thought you were better than this. I can spend 1/2 the time on a crashing PC for 1/2 the price. : ((

I agree that this is unacceptable. What's odd is that this is my first full-time mac laptop. A 2019 16" model loaded... almost $4K

and I'm dealing with crashes multiple times per day. What!? Having been a Windows user for years, this is shocking because I never had any crashes on my Windows laptops or desktops. I think the idea that windows machines frequently crash is an inaccurate and outdated narrative. I've just not experienced it myself. But here I am with what I thought would be a bullet proof system with more crashes than I've ever had in any computer! go figure! Hopefully they can find something wrong and fix it. I'm hoping logic board or t2 chip or both.

by the way, I'm out my computer for 10 days while they repair and service it. They are apparently very busy!

I purchased a MBP 16 in Oct 2020 thinking I would be able to use software made for 64 bit processors, my 2011 MBP 32 bit processor wasn't able to handle the new software applications. I never had a problem using a Mac once I learned the system until now. Now the software crashes daily whether I put it to sleep or not. It crashes daily. Sometimes I get the black screen of death and have to call apple care. They have some tricks that bring the screen back to life and it reloads the software. Doesn't change a thing. I thought going to an older version of software might help but am having trouble getting the software to load.

I hope apple will address the issue. This is just not what one expects from Apple. It is sad. Where is Steve? His spirit in Apple, I mean.
