Can't enable icloud Drive On iPhone 11

Hi, I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 13.4. My carrier is T-Mobile. When I go into the Files app, I’m presented with a big blue button that says "Turn on iCloud Drive."

When I press that button, it takes me to the iCloud panel in Settings. In that panel is a switch to turn on iCloud drive. When I flip the switch on and it turns green, it opens up a screen that says "Upgrade to iCloud Drive."

The problem is that the actual "Upgrade" button doesn't do anything when pressed, and neither does the "Cancel" button. They are also overlapping each other.

I am now stuck and unable to activate or access my iCloud Drive. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any help would be appreciated. I have enclosed a screenshot of the three screens in question:Thank you!

Agreed,

logging on a windows browser may or may not have helped for me.

iCloud Drive didn’t start working when I logged in from a windows machine.

I then realised it might be a payment acknowledgment issue. Something on Apple’s end wasn’t satisfying the “have paid for” iCloud Drive setting, so the Apple device cannot turn iCloud Drive on.

so, go into settings, your AppleID, click into payments and shipping. iCloud Drive started working on the Apple device. Repeated the steps on the other Apple device, it also started working,

Suspect it is a glitch between handling an iCloud Drive upgrade payment setting to “paid” that doesn’t quite sync right.

No need for factory reset!

hope that helps!

I resolved this problem with the online Apple support. My new iPhone 12 Pro had exactly the same issue, with the same screen. I had read the answers here, but didn't want to factory reset my iPhone.

Try the following...

1. Go to icloud.com on a Windows machine and login your iCloud account

2. Click any iWorks App (Keynote, Numbers or Pages)

3. If prompted, click Continue, then follow the onscreen prompts to upgrade.

4. Verify success by navigating to iCloud Drive web app and ensure it loads completely.

5. Then go back to your iPhone and attempt to toggle the iCloud Drive on again.

6. If it doesn't work the first time, go back to 2. and repeat with another iWorks app. I tried first Keynote and then Numbers, and then it works

This worked for me.

When you are in Pages, accessed on your computer at iCloud.com, have you tried uploading a document from the computer to Pages? If you can do that, it should indicate that the iCloud Drive is active. That’s what worked for me. Once I did that, I went back to Files on my iPad, and selected iCloud Drive, and it told me that I had to turn it on in settings, which I did with just the toggle. Once you get iCloud Drive working at iCloud.com, it’s just a matter of enabling it on your devices. I was never able to enable/upgrade it from my iPad itself. Had to do it at the website.

I had similar problem, and did not want to erase my phone (iPhone 11 Pro Max). I tried some other solutions (not all) given here without success. Today, I got hold of an old MacBook Pro, and I enabled iCloud and iCloud Drive in the MacBook, and automatically that solved the problem I had in the phone. If you can borrow someone's MacBook, you can try that and later log out. I hope this helps

Once you’re in Pages, do you see anything that says "Upgrade to iCloud Drive"? Evidently, this is what you need.

If you’re unable to find it or if it doesn’t exist for you, maybe you should consider doing a hard reset. Originally, a hard reset is what I did because I had no other options at that time. It worked for me.

Before I did the hard reset, I plugged in my phone and let it charge for a few minutes. When your phone is plugged in, that is the only time it creates a back up. This is why you want to plug it in for a while before you do a hard reset. Once I was confident the back up had completed, I went into my phone's settings and simply did the reset. When my phone powered back up, it gave me the option to enable iCloud Drive.

As you may have noticed, most people are against doing a hard reset because they think it’s a big deal and that it takes a long time. For me, it was neither. It was quick and easy. If you’re unable to use Pages as described, consider doing a hard reset. Good luck!

I had this issue across many devices and no easy fix. Unbelievable to have such a glitch given the prices paid for Apple products.

What I ended up doing is going on icloud.com , and create an empty file from icloud.com with the Pages software.

Then it unlocked all my iPhones and iPads.

Very counterintuitive to have to go on a website to unblock a feature on your iPhone and iPad.

Thanks for your post. We had the same issue with multiple devices and two Apple IDs. As I did't want to do a hard reset of any of my devices in use, I did a hard reset on an unused iPad (partially broken screen) and manually configured it to use my Apple ID. After I had enabled iCloud Drive on that iPad, the other devices using the same ID were happy to let me enable iCloud Drive as well!

Kdon88, rather than do a hard reset, try the following method first: using a Windows computer, go to iCloud.com, sign in, and locate "Pages." Once you’re in "Pages," you should be able to initiate iCloud Drive from there. This method has worked for others.

As far as WhatsApp goes, your messages should be saved to the point of your latest back up. But you could do another back up before you go to "Pages" if that makes you feel better. Good luck!
