iphone 11 ios 13.4 not appearing itunes

After updating to ios 13.4, my iPhone 11 doesn't show up in iTunes when I connect it. I've checked USB cables etc and all okay. My iPad running ios 13.3.1 shows up without any problems. (The iphone also shows up in the Photos app when I connect it.)

I'm running iTunes 12.8.2.3 in MacOS 10.13.6

I'd be grateful for any tips!

Thanks

Stephen

hi all,

i finally managed to sync my iphone 11pro on ios 13.4 to my early 2011 mbp 13 inch on high sierra.

Here is how it worked.

1- uninstall itunes from your mac book( of course make a backup of your library befor doing so)

then empty the trash. And restart and re install itunes. Itunes file available on apple website.

2- there is a security update on app store 2020-002 which i had to directly download it from apple website in order to install it and keep a copy Of the file for now. Install it and restart.

3- connect your iphone without opening itunes, it will ask you for a software update for itunes in order to be compatible with your phone. Go ahead and install this update as well.

and now you should see your phone showing on iTunes.

anyone not sure about the steps ask, and i will provide links to further explain what I've done and what is the procedure exactly.

cheers

Hi, so I just updated to 13.4.1 yesterday and was advised by an Apple Senior manager that I would still be able to sync with my iTunes - of course they were wrong and now my iTunes doesn’t connect to my iPhone (like all of you are experiencing). Yesterday I also updated my iTunes to the latest version allowed on my MacBook Pro running High Sierra. So if I already have the latest version of iTunes, hoe should I proceed to uninstall/delete iTunes so that I can re-install and get this to connect to my phone?

just how many people here have had ACTUAL success with this? I would be ecstatic to resolve this problem and again be able to sync my phone with my iTunes. Updating to Catalina is out of the question for me (I’m a video editor who relies heavily on many plugins that I need to keep working).

thank you in advance for any responses. This is such a great thread to have.

Girshon Rutstein, I’m just running the latest High Sierra - version 10.13.6

I’m sure since Apple killed iTunes in Catalina they will not be fixing this “bug”. To them, it’s not a problem - we’re the problem for not constantly updating and upgrading with every new release. As a working artist, I know Apple could care less about me. They are for consumers now, and I can either shape up of be left behind with non functioning technology.

I wouldn’t have splurged for the 500GB phone had I known that with 7 months worth of payments left - listening to Apple tech would render my device useless for what I choose it for.

Hope this thread keeps going if anyone has any success or figures out another solution.

FMarek7, I do too, have all my library on an external drive, with 25,000 songs and videos. That's why I got 250Gb iPhone.

You don't have to do anything, except move the iTunes folder from hidden library, (Menu, Go, Option, Library. iTunes folder.) iTunes folder has some weird files and plugins, which will be installed automatically when you install the new iTunes. Why I pulled this iTunes folder and not make the AppCleaner delete it, just in case if some pluggins will be missing. After a while when you have perfect sync and everything works like before, you may want to delete it from your desktop.

It’s great to hear this worked for someone besides Sasan!

I’d like to clarify a couple of things.

1) How will your new install of iTunes automatically see your music library if you delete it from Go > Library? Do you just copy it from there as a backup in case something goes worse wrong and not delete it using AppCleaner? Are you saying it doesn’t need to be deleted?

2) So is the only file you deleted using AppClear the iTunes application file itself? Did you erase any other files that might have something to do with the problem? I’m wondering what files need to be wiped to get this to work so I can be sure to do it.

3) Finally, which version of iTunes did you install that finally worked?

Please let me know?

Thanks!

  1. Might just mean you didn’t delete your iTunes Library.itl file, which instructs iTunes where to find your music files and holds your ratings and stuff. This makes me think you did not delete the Go > Library > iTunes folder. Is this correct?
  2. So you accepted all of the AppClears recommended files to wipe out. Was the iTunes folder in the root system Library folder not one?
  3. okay great.

What OSX are you running? I looked at AppCleaner before and unchecked the “Protect default OSX apps” box and it still wouldn’t let me. I might have to widen the permissions on that file in my version of OSX.

Thanks again!

Hi everyone !

I'm using Mac OS 10.14.6 Mojave on a MacMini and a MBpro and I don't wan't to update to Catalina like everyone here. I am very happy with Mojave on both machines.

My iPhone7 is on iOS 13.4.1 since yesterday. So far I really like it. Before the update I manually saved the phone on my MBpro in iTunes... That's why I'm making the test on my MacMini.

I've read everything and I still have some questions :

  • I was able to erase everything around iTunes in Appcleaner but not iTunes app itself even after unchecking in the preferences etc ... I don't understand why...
  • When I tried to download the last version of iTunes on the link and tried to install it it didn't work cause my system is already to recent for that.
  • I've restarted the computer and I tried to open the iTunes app that was still in my app folder and then I plugged my iPhone in USB... I have this message about the software update ...

My question is if I clic INSTALL, the computer will update iTunes only and not the system to CATALINA correct ?

I just wanna be sure before trying this on the Mac mini and then on my MBpro :)

Thanks a lot for your precious help everyone !

Look forward to hearing from you.
