YES! I can corroborate that the current iPadOS 14 Beta update APPEARS TO FIX the 3-minute boot loop issue. As I write, I've had several hours without problems on Public Beta 3, which is the only one so far to fix the issue. As said by others, make sure you get Beta 3 to test whether it fixes this issue for you. (On my first go at this I was (automatically) given Beta 2, and was only offered the OTA update to Beta 3 the next day.)

TL;DR:

Opinions: (1) Some people posting on this forum seem to have different and/or additional symptoms to the original poster, and the majority including me (symptoms summarised below). So if this fix doesn't work for you it probably means that you have a different underlying problem that needs a different solution. (2) While I'm glad this seems fixed for now, the whole thing leaves a bad taste. Final word from Apple support at every turn has been, 'this is a hardware issue: pay £$500+ for repair'. This fix proves (if we needed proof) that iPadOSes 13.4.1 - 13.6 contained a 'bug' that unnecessarily bricked some relatively recent, top of the range (once), previously fully functional iPads FOR 2 MONTHS. There did not appear to be a mechanism for affected users to get a fair and timely resolution, so some (many?) paid for repairs or new devices. (I relied on my personal iPad for work and my employer paid for a replacement, fortunately just a week ago and so eligible for 'open-box' return.) My opinion of Apple would only be (mostly) restored if I see the bug acknowledged in 'patch notes', and hear that people affected get repair and replacement costs refunded on request. I get that affected users were 'a drop in the ocean', but the fact we've been vindicated (it's a firmware 'bug' not (just?) a 'hardware issue') shows that Apple needs a better procedure for this type of situation. Otherwise, they're accepting that some customers are going to get screwed, and they're fine with it.

Symptoms: immediately after updating to iPadOS 13.4.1 (and I assume any firmware 13.4.1 - 13.6), my iPad Pro Gen 2 10.5 reboots to Apple logo 3 minutes after sign in leaving the following in Settings>Privacy>Data Analytics: 2 x "stacks+thermalmonitord...ips" followed by "panic-full...ips" "no successful checkins from com.apple.thermalmonitord in 180 seconds..."

Timeline & attempts to fix: I upgrade to 13.4.1 on/around 10 May; posted in this forum on 19 May; had a tech support chat session in mid-May; emailed customer relations (as suggested by MichelPM) in May; had a Genius Bar appointment on 19 July (when I finally got back to London). I lost count of the number of DFU restores and iPadOS upgrades through 13.6 - none of which fixed the issue.

Having the same issue here, been through all the troubleshooting steps with Apple support, called several times, had the call escalated twice and still no joy. Looks like I'm having to wait until Apple stores in the UK open, whenever that will be!! Also directed the last guy I spoke to, to this thread and the others like it and his response was "if you're looking for something you want to see, you will find it - that doesn't mean it's a widespread issue" absolute joke.

In the mean time my iPad started rebooting again and no squeezing could resolve the issue. Also the 13.5 update was no solution. Because I use my iPad daily as a production machine, I replaced it with an iPad Air 2019 so my keyboard and pencil still work. I'm still an Apple fan, but considerably less after this hoax! Very bad after taste with Apple support Netherlands! (although the Apple response seems to be a global policy). I tried to file a complaint about the way this is handled, but the where unable to tell me how my complaint would be processed! And clearly it is not! I just cannot spent any more time on this Snafu!

EXACTLY the same issue as others here.

iPad Pro 10.5 was fine until recent software update... and now it is in the rebooting-every-time-I-use-it mode.

I did a wipe... no help. I did a recovery restore... no help. I did a DFU restore... no help. Updated to iOS 13.5... no help.

This unit was a refurbished unit that I picked up back in October 2019 to replace my original unit that had failed.

Very frustrated that an Apple software update could kill the device like this and they claim no responsibility and no knowledge.

Have called again and asked to be put through to a higher level of authority. First person I spoke to you said that they sell 3 million iPads a year but only 5000 have problems - not sure what he meant but could be interpreted as not their problem or not their fault. Otherwise all iPads would be experiencing this. The second person I talked to said I only have two options - to pay for its repair or to contact consumer rights in my country. I don't see why I should pay as they caused the problem - otherwise why are so many people having the exact same problem? She made no attempt to even answer this point and wouldn't even let me know whether their engineers are looking into this or whether Apple have even officially logged this issue. I can't afford a replacement and so my only hope is that they release an update some time that fixes it.

Ok gang. Finally had a convo with a very nice lady from Apple. First thing, apparently they DO monitor these discussions as she specifically mentioned this is where they got my original complaint from. So someone is paying attention.

We spent about 15 minutes on the phone. She asked me the usual tech support type stuff. What was I doing when I updated to 13.4.1, had I added any other apps at the same time (no), how quick did the problem present itself (immediately). Things like that. She was pretty thorough.

We even tried to do remote diagnostics but the iPad wouldn't stay up long enough to connect.

So keep the faith all! It looks like they are (at least) investigating, although she was very clear to say they were not troubleshooting at this time, just gathering information.

By the way, I'm on a couple of different discussions about this problem, so I'm going to copy and paste this post. Just in case you think I'm some sort of bot or something.

I’m having the same issue as well, except my iPad won’t even get passed the Apple logo. After I installed the latest update, I started to get the reboots periodically and it got worse over time. I’ve even tried restoring it in DFU mode, but the screen remains black the entire time, even if it’s on. I really hope Apple does the right thing here, my iPad is only 2 years old and it shouldn’t be broken due to one of their own software updates.

Any other fixes for this yet? Mines been restarting for 3 months & I have it on 13.5.1 now... Tired of seeing the “Keep calling, keep messaging” replies, done that over & over. I have the 13” iPad Pro, so it’s not just the 10.5. I’ve done it all including dfu, nothing works. Apple seems to be trying to get more money out of us by throwing some garbage into the update to brick these things... They see that $599+ per person that all they have to do is load the fix on there & bam, loads of money in the bank!!!

I have exactly the same issue - it first occurred the day that 13.4 was released, immediately after I upgraded. I have had 2 lengthy support calls during lock down then a Genius appointment on Friday - all saying its a hardware fault and as my Apple Care expired 12 months ago I am out of luck:(. I don't believe it is a HW fault due to it starting straight after the upgrade. I have tried 13.4.1 and now 13.5.1 but no luck. Very disappointed that and iPad (with the keyboard and pencil costing >£1K should not only last 3 years!
