I’ve no idea “why”, but you may find that a forced-restart may clear any isolated issues:
Anyone with the 12.9” iPad Pro 1st or 2nd gen fix the boot loop with 14.2? My brother updated mine from 13.6 to 14.2 through dfu & many other ways & it’s still restarting. He’s an IT guy & has had Apple products for years.
I have a first gen 12.9” iPad Pro which was having the boot loop problem after updating to 13.4. I have tried various beta updates with very limited success but was able to update to 14.3 (18C5044f) today and so far it has been stable for 1 hour and twenty minutes using various programs like Safari, Twitter , Mail etc. Fingers crossed that it stays stable but I’m not confident yet. Also grudgingly bought an iPad Pro 11” during the 3months this has been a problem...long time Apple loyalist but losing faith in Apple.
out of all the posts here, yours is closest to mine:
- have a 1st gen 12.9 Pro
- boot loop since 13.4
- updated MANY times with various ways till 14.0, 14.1, 14.2, got excited with positive news from other users
- last update with 14.2 , it worked for 30 mins.. but then bootloop came back again and not it reboots every 3 mins again
- Me and my family are long time Apple users also.. Between us, Got the 1st gen iPad when it came out, then iPad2, Ipad mini 1, mini 2,iPad Air, Ipad 5th Gen and the iPad Pro 1st Gen. They ALL still work up till now (iPad 1 is stored away and a couple of others were given away). Point is, these iPads worked for YEARS, some were constantly dropped and abused (used outdoors, crammed in a bag when travelling etc) but STILL worked with no issues.
- iPad Pro, being the most expensive, was used carefully and was for indoor use only, used mainly for reading, browsing, office work...which is why I cant accept its a "hardware issue"..
Any updates to your device? Im also having my fingers crossed... will try the update 14.3 now too... :)
How do you scribble an iPad? I’ve tried everything including letting the battery run down completely and leaving it for a few weeks. Worked fine in ‘hello’ mode but always wants to update to ios14 and reboots while doing that, even in locked screen or sleep mode.
glad you’ve had success though
Stupid autocorrect. Lol. “Scrubbed.” I just factory reset everything and then pulled things back from my ICloud. My hubs is the Techie and I had a ton of “other” storage that was filling it up anyway so that was the easiest way to handle it. I didn’t re-download apps that I haven’t been using.
I have encountered the same problem. My pad boot on successfully, but restart every 3~5mins. Fucking problem..
How can I solve this problem?
Let me know how the follow up went - found this one the UK Apple support app, it backs up what you were saying earlier
I have the same problem. It reboots after 3-5 minutes of use. It started after applying the supplemental update of 13.4.1. Model is a 10.5 inch iPad Pro.
I also just tried a 13.4 pre .1 ipsw and no luck. Still reboots...
Yep, it was a problem then but I was able to downgrade to 13.3.1. Now I cannot. Thought .1 would have fixed it. My less than 2-year old iPad Pro is a brick for now.
I am having the same problem. 13.4.1 bricked my iPad Pro 10.5 (Cellular). No DFU mode helped. NONE. Later updates did not fix the problem at all.
Same problem here. Obviously there's a problem with the update.
After talking to several techs, I was issued an exception and my iPad was "repaired". YMMV. I did have AppleCare +...
If you're within 2-years, that works. Unfortunately though, if you're past the 2-years, its $599 to Apple to fix. It would be called ransomware if 13.4 came from anyone else.
I was a fair bit outside of 2 weeks, by several multiples.... I'm just saying, they did the right thing... it wasn't just 1 call though, it was many...
