Some keys on Logitech slim combo keyboard for ipad pro not working

The apostrophe, &, \ backslash and < keys did not work after I updated to OS 13.4.  I called Apple support (I told Apple support this started after I upgraded to 13.4) and they had no fix for my problem. They suggested I buy a new keyboard since mine is out of warranty or call Logitech to see if they would replace the keyboard. Luckily, I went on Logitech's community and found the fix. Go to your iPad settings—general. Click on “Keyboard” and change the setting from “Automatic” to “English” or in my case English—ABC extended. Now the keys work. It will save you from buying a new keyboard and a lot of time with Apple support.

I found an additional tip for this, and now "Automatic" works!

Accessibility Warning: If you have motor accessibility needs that require you to "activate" accessibility shortcuts with the space bar, I'd suggest having someone with you to assist if anything breaks during these steps.

Here are the steps:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap "Accessibility"
  3. Under "Physical and Motor," tap "Keyboards"
  4. Tap "Full Keyboard Access." Yours may be set to "Off," but continue anyway!
  5. Tap "Commands"
  6. Under "Basic," you'll see that "Activate" is set to "space." Remove it.
  7. Check to make sure "space" is nowhere else on the page.

You should now be able to switch your keyboard (under General -> Keyboard -> Hardware Keyboards) back to "Automatic" with no issues.

I'll report back if anything changes!

Update to my earlier post: my Logitech slim combo also experiences difficulty connecting (Bluetooth) and despite updating Apple firmware, charging both kybd and iPad batteries, rebooting, power cycling, and disconnecting/reconnecting , my keys still operate unreliably. That is to say, sometimes they work sometimes not - always the same keys (space, f, 1 and others). Ive tried to connect the slim combo to my iPhone but as I mentioned, it has difficulty connecting and I gave up. That said, however, I have a Logitech slim folio that I connected to the offending iPad and it connects and works flawlessly.

This has got to get fixed! It works on and off without rhyme or reason triggered by who knows what! I’ve tried every solution on here and the only thing that I can do to get it back on is to keep holding in the key that is not responding and that seems to work but it’s ridiculous! I love this keyboard! Ordered the new Magic Keyboard and returned to this one simply because I kept knocking my pencil of the mag top and I get tired of taking it off the keyboard to use it in writing mode. I love this. PLEASE FIX. I’ve never had any issues until this last IOS update.

I have the same problem with my keyboard and did what you said & still doesn’t work. Also, some letters and numbers don’t work as well.

I have the iPad Pro 11in and bought my keyboard back in Nov & in Feb it started malfunctioning.

Any suggestions?

i contacted Logitech support, still waiting for the, to call me and receive my warranty approval as it has 1yr of warranty.

im running the OS 13.5.1

I’m tempted to write this reply using only the eys tht wor. But I’ll save everyone from trying to figure out what I’m trying to communicate.

I’ve had this issue since updating to iPadOS 14 with the Slim Combo keyboard. Several keys no longer function (or do so intermittently. I’m not sure if it’s software or hardware at this point, but the automatic to US toggle doesn’t seem to have an impact on me. Anyone else have issues with OS 14?
