Why is Apple Mail on MacBook saving multiple copies?

Why is Apple Mail on MacBook saving multiple copies? Why did Apple delete my Post couple of days ago on this issue?

Mail version 16.0 my saved (+1000s) and new mail messages periodically disappear and then download again. This happens about once a month for no apparent reason. any reason why this is happening and how can I stop it? I have a gmail accounts and local ISP accounts.

I spoke too soon. Multiple copies of Sent mail are still being created in Archive.
