Hi, brand new magic keyboard shows no sign of life when attached to ipadpro 11 inch.

tried turning on and off, cleaning connectors etc. Looks completely dead. iPad Pro fully charged. Tried also connecting with usb c charger to keyboard. No difference. As far as I know there is no on/off switch. What am I missing ?

Hello, I'm also facing the same problems as the users in this chat. Ipad 12.9" pro 2020 - IOS 13.6 installed and magic keyboard, both brand new. There are instances where the trackpad becomes unresponsive. Rebooted and cleaned connectors twice, nothing. During the last check I discovered that the central pin was retracted, fixed with tweezers, reinstalled the iPad and the magic keyboard came back to life !?!

Pins/Connectors could be the weak point?

lot of money for a wretched product

I had exactly the same issue, new MK had been working fine for a month, all has been fine, the suddenly last night. Nothing, no track pad, and couldn’t even type with. The keyboard, Searched everywhere And found someone mentioning about charge cable being connected.

Anyway, how i recovered the operation, plug charge cable into the ipad, and NOT into keyboard charge port. Whilst it is still being charged, disconnect the ipad 2 -3 times from the keyboard, and hey presto all working again.

I did also find the keyboard very slow to respond, and found that while staying multiple things to get the keyboard back into life, i must have accidentally switched on slow keys. Turned it off. All back to working fine.

Not sure what caused the problem in the fist place, maybe it one thing to do with always using the keyboard charge port.

Anyway hope this helps.

Even with iPadOS update to 13.5 had this issue on my 12.9 iPad. Both iPad and keyboard are latest generation. Less than 4 days old since I got it. Detached it and touch keyboard showed up but reattaching it to the keyboard did not do anything. Tried the USB C cable method mentioned above by stevefromcarmichael but nothing. Had to turn iPad off and on back again to fix it. Hope it doesn't reoccur.

Hi,

I had the same issue, but found by removing the iPad off of the MK, plugging in the charger lead, into the ipad and Not the keyboard. Replacing the ipad n the keyboard, it all came on fine.

That was a few weeks ago I, and has been fine ever since.

I found when the keyboard failed to type, or track pad failed, it was while the charger was plugged into the keyboards pass through port.

Not sure why this would cause the issue, but i have charged via that port since, and it has been ok.

One final thing, i did notice, it was very critical you make sure the ipad is really square on the MK, a slight misalignment can cause intermittent operation.

Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem, and found that the ipad must be square on the magnets, even slightly out will cause a problem. I also found that, by unplugging the charger from the keyboard (pass through port) and plugging directly into the ipad, seemed to help.

I also found turning the iPad off occasionally overnight, helps. Since I had that initial hiccup it has not happened since.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried, plugging in the charge lead into the ipad, and while its charging, lift the ipad off the MK 2 or 3 times. Also make sure the iPad is really square on the keyboard. Also make sure the pins that align with the iPad are clean and not stuck in!

When i had my problem, the keyboard was failing to respond to the mouse/track pad, and was erratic in what it would type. After a few times on/off the keyboard with the ipad it started to respond normally.

Been ok ever since.

Hope that helps.
