brand new magic keybaord not working with ipadpro 11 inch

Hi, brand new magic keyboard shows no sign of life when attached to ipadpro 11 inch.


tried turning on and off, cleaning connectors etc. Looks completely dead. iPad Pro fully charged. Tried also connecting with usb c charger to keyboard. No difference. As far as I know there is no on/off switch. What am I missing ?

Hello, I'm also facing the same problems as the users in this chat. Ipad 12.9" pro 2020 - IOS 13.6 installed and magic keyboard, both brand new. There are instances where the trackpad becomes unresponsive. Rebooted and cleaned connectors twice, nothing. During the last check I discovered that the central pin was retracted, fixed with tweezers, reinstalled the iPad and the magic keyboard came back to life !?!

Pins/Connectors could be the weak point?

lot of money for a wretched product

My few month old magic keyboard using with iPad Pro 11-inch 2018 won’t type but this occurs at random. I tried the following but none worked:


  • Disconnect/reconnect the keyboard
  • Turn off and on the iPad
  • Reboot the iPad
  • Reset all content and settings on the iPad
  • Reset everything without restoring from backup
  • Updated to iPadOS14.2


I requested a mail-in repair/exchange today but I was (temporarily) charged over $300 in case my original keyboard is physically damaged (which is not). I’m not happy that this just a few month old item is not functioning as it should, especially for the price we pay.

Hi, the track pad should take its power from the ipad, so make sure the pins and contacts are clean. Also make sure the pins on the MK, are free and moving, if they stick in, no voltage can get through, and as you are saying it will not charge through the keyboard, would look carefully at the pins area.


Also have you updated to the latest software, as this can sometimes affect the keyboard, as it usually needs the latest software.
