iPad Pro not charging

I am having an issue. Yesterday I updated the ipad to iPadOS 13.5, which seemingly went fine.

Later in the day my ipad battery depleted due to usage, but is now refusing to charge. When I put it on charge either through the outlet or my mac pro, I only get the battery charging notification for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes off again. This repeats over and over.

I am unable to reset as there doesnt seem to be enough charge and it will not turn on at all.

When plugged into my mac it does not recognise that it is plugged in either.

Is this an issue with the update? How can I resolve this?

Solved my issue.

mot looks like the latest update lets the battery go too low, therefore the usual charger is not enough to power it back up. It NEEDED either the original charger or any 12/15w charger.

i used the charger or my Switch and now my iPad it back to life.

before the update the iPad would shut down before reaching a too critical low battery....

Same problem here. Last night, I upgraded to 13.5.1. I noticed the charging became slow (like 1% per 1-2hrs). But later this afternoon, it would no longer charge! Initially i thought maybe it’s a cable problem, so i had my husband buy me 2 usb type-C cables... but even with brand new cables it still wouldn’t charge. Tried connecting it to itunes via PC, and yet my ipad was not detected. :(

Unless Apple put some kind of code in the latest iOS to only allow the iPad to charge when communicating with the new charger it doesn't make sense that our iPads would suddenly stop charging after an update. Either way it's on Apple.

I'm wondering how many customers just went ahead and paid for a repair/replacement even though it was Apples fault?

Thanks for the info but it's ridiculous that after an iOS update we should have to run out and and buy a new higher wattage charger to get our iPads working again. This was obviously something to do with a code change and Apple should have immediately owned up to it. Who knows how much money they made from iPad owners who sent their iPads in for repair when they stopped working.

Sending the replacement iPad Pro back for "repair" for the same issue after less than two months in service.

Wasted $25 on a high wattage charger and several hours time trying to get this to power up. Hopefully Apple gets enough reports of this issue to take action and come up with an actual solution. Whether it's another iOS update or a modified charger.

Thanks for the link.

So according to the specs it is not as powerful on the lower voltages, 5V / 1.5A on the switch charger vs 5V / 3A on mine, the only thing the switch charger does have is a 15V output where mine only goes as high as 12V.

I may try one if I can find one to borrow while I'm waiting for Apple to send the return kit for my iPad Pro.

In the end Apple still needs to admit there is an issue and make it right.

Have to correct that last post, I just found an article on the full switch charger specs and it does not include a 9V output, which is in violation of the USB-C specs, and also does not include a 12V output. only 5V and 15V.

just wanted to be thorough, I hate posting incomplete or incorrect info. Here is the link for anyone interested:

Thank for the update. I just installed 13.6.1 this morning and I'm charging from a standard charger, although it's charging very slow.

I'm afraid to try letting the power drop that low to test until I get a PD 3.0 charger and a compatible cable. I'm ordering them today so hopefully will never have to deal with this issue again.

Here is what I am ordering:

Probably not a bad idea just to have one on hand. The increased voltages on the PD 3.0 chargers make for some really fast charging. I could see the difference right away. You just have to make sure your cable supports higher wattage as well since most of the cables I see sold on Amazon don't. I had to specifically search for cables that supported the higher voltage and wattage.
