iPad Pro not charging

I am having an issue. Yesterday I updated the ipad to iPadOS 13.5, which seemingly went fine.

Later in the day my ipad battery depleted due to usage, but is now refusing to charge. When I put it on charge either through the outlet or my mac pro, I only get the battery charging notification for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes off again. This repeats over and over.

I am unable to reset as there doesnt seem to be enough charge and it will not turn on at all.

When plugged into my mac it does not recognise that it is plugged in either.

Is this an issue with the update? How can I resolve this?

Solved my issue.

mot looks like the latest update lets the battery go too low, therefore the usual charger is not enough to power it back up. It NEEDED either the original charger or any 12/15w charger.

i used the charger or my Switch and now my iPad it back to life.

before the update the iPad would shut down before reaching a too critical low battery....

I have the same issue . Need to restart my iPad pro so that it charges. This since 13.5

I wished Apple would fix it on 13.5.1 but they cared more about the jailbreaking someone did than fixing the issue that so many are having. BTW while hopefully waiting for a fix from Apple I let my warranty expire: I checked today frustrated by the constant need to restart and I discovered I bought it a year ago yesterday 😟

The exact same thing has just happened to me. My ipad pro 11 was working perfectly two days ago and now the battery is dead and won't charge at all. Just an endless loop of the battery symbol flashing on the black screen. This all seems far too coincidental that all our devices are experiencing this around the same time. I purchased mine in March 2019 like another poster on here too.

Now the new iPad Pro that Apple sent as a replacement less than four weeks ago is doing the same thing. If Apple is aware that the iPad Pro now needs a higher wattage charger because of some code changes they made to the latest iOS they should be supplying them to us at no cost!

Now I have to either purchase a new high powered charger and hope that works or I have to create another case with Apple and fight with them to get this replaced without being charged!

I had my replaced (iPad Pro 10.5') as well but so far is charging and because of the issues I'm not letting it go below 50%

Mine came without charger, gave the old one back and got the new one and I'm still using the old apple charger

Did yours come with a charger?

Anyway I will keep fighting with them if I were you,

I was told you have 3 months at least after the replacement.

The total watt output is meaningless when you have chargers with several different voltage outputs. That is why I wanted to get the specs on the switch charger.

What you have to go by is the amp output for each voltage tier. So while the switch charger is much weaker than mine on the 5V, 9V and 12V outputs it does have a 15V output which my charger does not.

It may be that higher 15V output that forces the iPad Pro to take the charge. I'm hoping to test if I can get my hands on one before I send this iPad Pro back to repair.

I have tried everything besides the reset, as I am unable to as the ipad is getting no power at all as per my post.

It seems to me to be more than a coincidence that after performing the update, the very same day the ipad is now essentially a paperweight.

I have seen multiple reports of issues regarding battery issues and or boot loops after this update yet there seems to be no acknowledgment from Apple regarding this in terms of responsibility.

Has anyone found themselves with a similar issue that they have been able to resolve?

Same issue here. iPad pro barely over a year old. charging port in good condition and after latest update battery was depleted and now it will not charge or power on. Low battery symbol appears and disappears in an endless loop. Attempting to force restart pressing vol up, vol down and then holding power does not work.

Sounds like Apple is playing games with us. Forcing our devices to stop working so we have to pay for service.

Same here, this is too much of a coincidence for it to suddenly stop working right after the last iOS update. Mine was a couple weeks out of warranty and I had to pay to send it in for repair. We have dozens of iPads in our company and I have never seen a battery fail when it's barely over a year old.

Apple should be waving the charges on these repairs. We know your monitoring these posts Apple. Do the right thing!

I am having exactly the same issue . I updated to the latest software a few days back. Spoke to tech support and also went to the apple tech support shop ( I live in India) they had no answers to the problem. Infact mine is a few moths out of warrany and I was told they cant do anything and I need to buy a new one and throw this..... Crazy...… this is a known issue to apple I'm sure it use to revive with extended plugged in charge however with the new software upgrade it seems to just not respond if the battery goes below a minimum threshold

How did you do with your dispute? I am on hold with Apple now. Received a replacement then checked my credit card and found they charged me $699.41!

I have been managing a fleet of iPads for our company for many years and this is not normal for an iPad to suddenly stop taking a charge after it's only a year old. This was definitely caused by the recent iOS update.
