After update to iOS 13.5.1 battery drain is ridiculous and phone overheats

Ever since updating to iOS 13.5.1, my phone's battery drain is ridiculous. Previously, from the time I removed my phone from the charger at 6:30 AM until I put it back on the charger at 11:00 PM, my battery would drain to around 80%. Now, it's at 80% by 8:30 AM. The device is also hot all the time. Clearly, something is wrong with this update, and it needs to be fixed.

Protect & Prolong life of your iPhone's Battery:

  1. About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch ...
  2. Batteries - Maximising Performance - Apple (IN)
  3. iPhone Battery and Performance

Try some of these options too.

  1. Avoid Screen Mirroring
  2. Put on Low Power Mode
  3. Put Auto Lock On (1 min):- with low power mode it will be 30 Sec
  4. Put Auto Answer Off
  5. Disable Push notifications for apps you do not use often
  6. Keep your iPhone Face down to prevent notifications to light up screen
  7. Enable Auto Brightness:- Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Auto-Brightness [Enable]
  8. Manually lower brightness from Control Center
  9. If you Want to watch continuous Video. Stream it on TV or a Monitor
  10. Don't force close apps; Apps which are not on frontend screen are paused by the system to save energy. Apps require more energy to re-launch. Apps which are open in the background use large memory is a myth and quitting them is counterproductive
  11. Location services to be allowed only while using the app
  12. Set your iPhone to fetch email and calendar data from internet less frequently
  13. Turning off Background App Refresh
  14. Charge before it drops below 20-30%
  15. Try connecting to trusted Wifi where ever available in stead of Cellular
  16. Enable Airplane mode in areas with bad cellular and wifi coverage. Your phone keeps trying for reconnection with the missing / weak network. This uses lot of energy
  17. Switch off Wifi & Bluetooth while in Roaming or Not in Range
  18. Enable "Wifi Assist" : Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data > Wi-Fi Assist [Enable]
  19. Periodically Check your Battery Health (Settings > Battery > Battery Health)

I am so glad I found this thread. My I-phone SE had been trouble free, apart from a glitch that was introduced by an IOS update some time ago, and corrected by a subsequent one. Suddenly my battery started dying half way through the day. I hadn't installed any new apps or changed any settings. When I went to settings, to show battery usage, the information there suggested that Pedometer++ (which I have used every day for the last year or so), working in the background, was responsible for using 75% of the battery charge. What? How is that possible? I was on the point of taking my phone to a local shop to get a new battery installed, even though I have only had the phone for 18 months, and the maximum capacity is showing as 94%. I am hoping IOS 13.6 which I have just installed will fix this problem - time will tell. What annoys me most with many of these bugs is that when you contact anyone at Apple, they don't seem to be aware of them, even though they cause problems for many users. It would be nice if they said "Don't worry, we know about the problem, we're on the case, and it will be sorted in the next update."

So I downloaded the beta update 13.6, why? Because they said it’s going to fix my battery drain. Well, let’s just say it’s a myth. Thats right, you read it right a myth. Batter drain still exist, today i was at the gym phone was charged all the way to 80% then 5 mins later 0%, smh. I want to see who else got this issue. Is it just me??????

Same here. After updating my 6S Plus to 13.5.1, my battery health dropped from 100% to 97% in few days. Battery drains with in 5-6 hrs to 20%from 100%. Its my spare phone.. finally updated to 13.6 but, the issue of battery drain still there. not sure apple fixed it in this update.. yesterday, i have updated to ios 14 beta 2. Do a factory reset and download beta and factory reset again. if possible download apps manually. i didnt restore using icloud/itunes. battery drain is there but not as fast as 13.6.. a bit slower than that.. no fix as of now

I reset 2 iPhones and lost a lot some photos and other data, like from my watch which had to be paired again, and links I had saved to my home screen. Email any links to yourself so you can easily resave later. You will have to load all your apps again so make sure you know all your passwords. The battery problem disappeared but it was a lot of work. Calendars and contacts remained. Some people have had luck with 13.6. I did the beta 14 on 2 ipads and had to reset one finally. It works fine now. Good luck. Call Apple support and they will walk you through it.

I have an iPhone8 that I have had minor battery issues with since 13.5 update, but had got around this by limiting app refresh. I updated to 13.6 yesterday and put my phone in the kitchen last night before I went to bed....it had 90% battery at that point. This morning when I got up the phone had shut down due to low battery. I checked the battery use and none of my apps had used any battery overnight.....so WHY NO BATTERY POWER THIS MORNING.....this is such a frustrating issue since it takes 5 minutes charge to even open the phone back up and then it still has to sit charging before I can use it

I have the iPhone SE1 and if I’m text messaging or looking up stuff online, my phone will be dead in about 10 minutes. That’s from a 100% charge. I hate doing software updates for this reason. I have to keep my phone connected to a portable battery charger. I have kept my phone in great condition no scratches on screen or back, looks brand new still and battery is shot after the update. This should be illegal for Apple to intentionally decrease battery life with each update

My phone is on fire right now just trying to find an answer to this. I’ve never had any issues with any iPhone like I do right now. All day yesterday, prompts have been warning me that an update will take place. It updated and now I have a phone overheating. Before yesterday, I was having an app shut down within one second of opening it. Something really bad happened and Apple hasn’t been able to fix it.
