iPhone 11 speakerphone cutting out

My girlfriend and I both have iPhone 11’s. While talking to each other if one of us is on speakerphone the other catches every other word. This happens on both phones, if I activate speakerphone she only here’s every other word and vice versa if she activated speaker phone. If you turn speakerphone off there are no issues. Is there a setting that can fix this? Is this a common issue? Thanks

I have been having the same issue for several months. Had Apple send me a new iPhone 11 Pro and ATT sent me a new SIM card and reset my network. Everything had been replaced and nothing worked. THEN I took my phone case off and it was like night and day how clearly the other person could hear me. Do you have a case on your phone? That could be the cause of the obstructed microphone sound!

That's not a resolution actually. That is a work around. The reason I personally use the speakerphone is to better hear. Turning down the volume for me is counterproductive.

Today I got a response from their support saying "I am sorry you are still having the issue with your iPhone.  You can submit feedback on Apple products at apple.com/feedback". That site states, "We cannot respond to you personally, but please know that your message has been received and will be reviewed by the iPhone Team. If we need to follow up with you on your ideas for improving the iPhone, we will contact you directly." It seems to me they have no intention on resolving this defect.

Note: My oldest son never had issues with his iPhones. He just got the iPhone 12. Boom, he has the same defect as well now.

If you do the reset, please post back and let us know if that resolved it, I’ll try that with our phones also if you have success.

Funny how no one from apple is replying on this thread, yet other posts get replied to right away. Seems like a problem they are aware of and don’t want to take responsibility for.

When I first posted here, it has about 400 something me too’s with the original post, now it’s getting close to 800.

if this doesn’t get resolved, both my wife and I will be switching over to a new platform when it’s time to upgrade..

I literally can’t have a conversation with anyone while using my iPhone.  For over a year I’ve had to deal with this in addition to 2 chronic lung conditions, amid covid19 Etc

This has made existing even more unbearable for me. I don’t have another device. Nor do I have the extra money to waste on another glitchy device. It’d be nice ifI had something I COULD ever rely on. This of the only way I have of communicating with ANo pop YONE, kids, boss, family, doctors, ANYONE. I paid over $1,000 for this device to add dress up or h to stress me out. I got ripped off. Wouldn’t be the first time. Feel free to reprimand me for ranting, frankly I don’t even care. You also ripped me off on three different Apple TV’s, you scored another unhappy customer.. Toggling the noise cancellation only helped a few times, back when.

WTF, jus tried doing the mute suggestion when both I and my wife were talking to each other both using speakerphone.

Doing this recreates the problem exactly.

So now what, are they still gonna deny there is no problem?

I guess the only way to prove this since they don’t listen/care here, is to go to an apple store, get two employees, take one with you out of the store, and call the other guy iPhone to iPhone over speaker, and show them that this is they way to recreate the problem, and what are they gonna do about it now?

Hello! This happens with the iPhone 12 Pro and pro max as well!

My mother has an 11 pro max, and she has this problem, she only has use of her right hand, so she uses speaker a lot, but it is near impossible with this malfunction. It is very hard for her to do practically anything while she is on the phone now, because she cannot use speaker. PLEASE FIX!

I thought maybe it was just here phone, but I upgraded from an X to a 12 pro a couple days ago, and so did my dad… we now all have the same problem. Very disappointed in this.
