iPhone 11 speakerphone cutting out

My girlfriend and I both have iPhone 11’s. While talking to each other if one of us is on speakerphone the other catches every other word. This happens on both phones, if I activate speakerphone she only here’s every other word and vice versa if she activated speaker phone. If you turn speakerphone off there are no issues. Is there a setting that can fix this? Is this a common issue? Thanks

This has to be an Apple fault rather than a carrier fault. I live in Melbourne and so have an Australian service provider. Is anyone else plagued by iPhone 11 Pro Max making interrupting random calls?

I’ve heard the same thing. I hope this one will be different. If not I’m not sure of what to do. AT&T said they wouldn’t replace it or let me trade it in on my plan. So I’d be stuck with a bad phone if it doesn’t work sadly. I plan on showing the store in which I have to go to the issue & not leaving until i test it there. That may make a difference hopefully.

I think we need to get the media’s attention at this point, in order for Apple to do something. I had a plan mapped out but most ppl on here will comment but won’t come together make Apple do something instead of trying to ignore the issue. I kept telling ppl to join the group on FB so we can put the plan in action but the numbers aren’t there. We have a bigger voice united.

I have four iPhone 11s in my family and we all have the speaker phone issue. It’s clear that replacing it makes no difference. Now hear this... I do tech support over the phone for a product that uses an app. I speak to people on their speaker phone as we troubleshoot. I have had two people call me on their iPhone 12 (I always ask what phone model they have) and the same speaker phone issue is happening on iPhone 12. I am not on a mobile phone so it’s not on my side. The same speaker phone issue on iPhone 12 as iPhone 11 no joke!

What I have done, that seems to have helped tremendously, is to turn off the phone noise cancellation. Settings/Accessibility/AudioVisual

Try that and post your results!

Based on my discovery that this happens on iPhone 12 as well... I am pretty confident that the iPhone case plays a part in this issue when the noise cancellation is on. Could be case materials or the degree in which the case covers the speaker/mic area as well as the thickness of the case around the speaker/mic area. The noise cancellation is engaging due to the audio level and either the case is reverberating or the audio is looping/amplifying back into the mic.

I have ordered a slim case and will test. Will also test with no case. Will have noise cancellation on and off for these tests.

Try turning off phone noise cancellation though and you should see an improvement with your current case.

I had the otter box defender on my 11 pro and after removing it I found that the issue resolved itself. I tested it with my friend for about an hour and he said that I sound much more clearer and there was absolutely not cutting in and out. I did go ahead and purchase a slim case on the Apple store and have had no issues. They design it so that the bottom of the phone is completely exposed and doesn’t affect the microphone
