iOS 13.6 overheating and battery drain issues

I have an iPhone SE 2nd gen and I’ve been experiencing surprisingly hot temperatures and performance issues. I tested it in Geekbench a few days ago and got a CPU score of 1321 and today I got 789. I don’t know if this is because of the later iOS builds . However when using 13.5.1 I got great performance. And long battery life.

Could this be just my iPhone or are others experiencing this as well?

This started out as a promising Q&A on the battery drain issues with 13.6, but the conversion took a turn and the issue was never addressed.

I downloaded 13.6 Thursday and since then my phone runs hot and my battery life is terrible. Anyone else having issues?

I tried this for my other devices many times during years. My current iPhone 11 Pro Max stores 26,573 photos and 781 videos and I reckon this is the reason why my built-in photo app is always crashing. I back up my iPhone with iCloud backup cause the one on MacBook is extremely annoying and time consuming. I will take my iPhone to Genius Bar for a battery replacement before the warranty expires so I ain’t gonna do it for now. But do thanks peter_watt for the useful suggestion and resources:)

Last time I used Photo Stream it only lasted 30 days then they disappeared from Mac. Photo stream will be phased out one day.

I would open your own thread or do some research because you have thousands of full size photos on an unstable iphone and maybe no full backup unless you are renting 50GB icloud. Best leave this now as we're off topic.

I'm still on 13.6 and previously reported major problems (rapid battery drain) with my iPhone SE (the old version) to this discussion topic. But over the last two weeks the phone battery has surprisingly been lasting all day. I have resisted the urge to install 13.6.1 which is now available, in case I get the old problem back again. Maybe I'll see whether other users report issues with it. But I cannot explain why my phone is working pretty much as normal now. Battery health indicator is 89% of original, not bad for a phone which I've had for more than two years and which was an older model even then.

Oh do you mean resetting the network settings helps the battery drain problem? Ye I told the genius every time I visited Genius Bar cause each iOS update is notorious for its instability. Ngl I miss iPhone 5 with iOS 6 and iPhone 5s with iOS 7 the most. All the new iPhones are just being pricey but not as perfect as those OG iPhones say iPhone 4s.

Actually the vast majority of people have no issues with each iOS update.

I have had zero issues with my iPhone X, XS or 11 Pro Max, nor have literally millions of others.

I'm sorry you are having problems, but it's not due to gross incompetence on Apple's part.

I believe your battery is no problem at all, so was mine when I tried changing my 6s battery by myself when this drain issue hit me upon 13.6 update. After that, I have tried 13.6.1. All have the same idle battery drain issue on my 6s. So the I tried 13.6.1 on my iPad Pro 10.5 which was on 13.5, then started to see the issue on it now, just less severe due to the iPad’s big battery. And I have tried erasing my phone and install apps from scratch, erasing all settings, delete Apple Music app, disable Siri and Search, etc. None of them helped. Now I’m not sure if I can get out of this when ios 14 is officially released or not.

That’s very lucky of you. I don’t really know much about those bugs I just learned it from different articles available online. (But I’m ps iOS 11 is a notorious one and that’s why Apple focused on the system performance in iOS 12). I didn’t update my previous iPhone 7 Plus I kept it at iOS 10.3.3 lol tbh I have no problem with my iPhone 11 Pro Max until iOS 13.5.1 bugs and glitches start to happen. All in all iOS ain’t really that bad just I dun feel as nice as those times when iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s were introduced.

I really don't understand that company such as Apple with many engineers and a lot of money can't make a nice and smooth iOS

Apple makes its own hardware and software but still, iOS is bad (write ”suck”)

If iOS14 don't make a better battery and no heating - bye-bye Apple and never back

Sorry for my english

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. Since my update to 13.5.1 My phone started unusual overheat even on simple usage. Besides, I lost the click on home bottom and the vibrator as a result. I had to put it on the fridge for few minutes to restore it to normal. I also experienced several restarts for no reason but that happens occasionally.

Is there a way to downgrade to iOS 12?
