iPhone SE 2020 battery health

So I’ve had my iPhone SE 2020 it has moderate use. Battery life is pretty shocking for saying the iPhone 7 I was using before lasted longer.

main issue I’ve found is that in the 3-4months of owning this my battery health has literally declined to 96% should this be happening so soon on a new phone?

Again the 7 I’d had since new was used the same way as this that when I chopped it in was still at 98% battery health so is it just me that’s having this issue or is there more folks out there havning the issue also?

If that is the case, then it makes no sense to have one. How much is it going to cost to replace the battery? At this rate, in a year, the phone is going to require charging at least twice a day. And that is using the 5w charger it came with. How fast would it deteriorate if we use a more powerful charger?

This means you are going to be stuck using the phone is power saver mode all day everyday.

No you are not the only one with battery problems. My old SE didn’t lose battery health until after its one year mark. I purchased the new SE on 12/24/20 and it’s been at 99% for a while.

Does anyone know if Apple is investigating this problem? Also after one of the software updates I started getting warnings that since the upgrade that I was using my phone more than before the update.

I read one of the comments saying not to complain about losing a few percentage points of battery life, do you know is anything being done to rectify this problem, I believe he was a level 10. Yes I agree with him that Apple has good battery technology, so what happened? Thank you for any advise.

I think you are correct that it was one of the updates that possibly caused the battery problems. After I installed it I remember getting a message stating that I was using my phone more now than before the update. I believe this is when my battery health went to 99%. I’ve also notice now that before the day is over I get the low battery alert advising me to go in the low battery mode.

The only answer I am hearing is from someone telling us not to worry that it’s only 1% or 5%, etc. If we purchased a iPhone it’s because we wanted the best. For many of us it’s because we expected the best from our prior experience. It is also with this prior experience that even a 1% decline in battery health now causes me to go into battery save mode towards the end of the day. My early iPhone SE 1st generation once the battery health showed any decline I had to use low power mode to make the day. I charge my phone at night to 100% and then unplug it and still had the health issue. I’m inclined to believe it is a software problem that I hope the Apple technicians can repair.

Mine just dropped another percentage point and already down to either a evening power boost or to go in the battery save mode. I’ve noticed that most every phone carrier are trying to unload these at very low prices. Even without a contract you can get them anywhere between $49.99 to $99.99. I keep hoping that someone in the Apple corporation will take notice and offer a solution.

Even under warranty the battery health has to be below 80% before they will do anything. They suggested adding the extended warranty but then said once again it has to below 80%. Do other iPhone users have the same experience that I’ve had with battery health. I’ve noticed with my other SE first generation that once there is any decline in battery health that the phone will not last the whole day without either a extra charge or placing it in the low power mode.

Also can someone tell me how to do a reboot of the new SE. one of the technicians told me how to do it on my iPhone 7 and it seemed to help. It was a combination of powering off and pressing other buttons. Thank you.

In response to QuickTimeKirk saying two percent from perfect stop worrying does not help. We want help in fixing this grave problem with this new phone. A earlier posting suggested getting a first generation SE are these still available or possibly a 6 or 7. There are some of us that can not afford a thousand dollar phone. I like the size of the SE. in the meantime I will keep the lower power mode on and keep the screen on time set for 30 seconds until the Apple Technical Department can come up with a solution.

Cybersecurity, as I’m sure you know, is not a wall that you build once and it protects you forever. Rather, it is an arms race. The reason iPhones (and other Apple devices) are secure is because Apple tries to stay ahead in the arms race.

Regarding your claim about viruses and malware not bypassing iOS security please go and read the actual vulnerabilities that are listed in the link I provided. 14.5.1 specifically addressed a zero day vulnerability that could bypass iOS security and allow the installation of spyware, and had been observed in the wild. And almost all of the others were vulnerabilities that could bypass iOS security and install spyware or steal data from iOS devices. Technically not viruses, but serious malware nonetheless.

And I am certain that battery health degrading too soon (and “too soon” is undefined) has nothing to do with phone heating problems. But I guess we will have to agree to disagree on that.

If we have to agree to disagree on that, then what explanation can you give to the people commenting here about their battery problems ? You see 489 people have clicked on "I have this question too", how did so many of them have reduced battery health in just few months of usage? They are saying their previous iPhones even after years of usage has still more battery health than SE 2020. The only other explanation is that Apple has made a defective phone, isn't it?
