iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

Here is my case:

After update to iOS 13.7 (the last version), my iphone 7 plus (jet black 256gb verizon) can not make phone calls or take pictures.

Went to apple store twice. They did some check and told me nothing is wrong with the phone.

They claimed it could be weak signal in my house, which is not the case.

They suspect it is the carrier, sim card. I switched different sim cards and did not work.

They say try reset as a new phone or restore from backup. I did both, the issue still persists.

There is a temp solution though:

reset network settings, then I can make one call and camera will work for a while.

Then both will stop working again randomly.

I've had mic not working since somewhere in 13. I can't use Siri, dictate, make calls. I cannot plug in headphones or car adapters, but can use my son's AirPods. I wonder though if iOS 13 caused it to fail physically. I thought I remembered when I was on the phone the last time, that I heard a loud static noise, then every time I tried to use the audio after that it didn't work. I thought it was faulty hardware on it's own, but with everyone here with the same issue, I think it was Apple's fault. I am beginning to think it might have fried a processor of some sort, because some apps that try to use those resources don't work (I know next to nothing about circuitry). The record in Voice Memo isn't even responsive because it knows something's broke. All video recordings have no sound. Some apps became completely unusable like Marco Polo. I can no longer partake in my family group video conversations because it won't play back any of the video.

I ended up getting AirPods just to make calls, but it's definitely a diminished experience. I'm worried I won't be able to record a momentous occasion without audio on the video. I guess I have to accelerate my saving for a new phone.

As promised, here I am again. Apple called me again today. They told me that they wanted to check what the problem with the phone was, and for that they needed my phone. They offered to send me a replacement (not sure which model yet), and once I received it they wanted me to send the old phone to them. Very friendly guy. I asked how came that they contacted me instead of me contacting them, and he said that he didn't know, he just got a memo from his superior to do thi, but it could well be possible that Apple reads the discussions. So, it looks promising. I am happy with their initiative. Very customer friendly in the end.

I also have this problem with my Iphone 8. Everything worked as it should with IOS 13.7 and then after update to IOS14 back camera and flashlight stopped working. I have done every tips and trix here, factory reset with Itunes and set up as new but nothing helps. Speaked with Apple support and they said that I can send phone in for reparation and pay 3741 swedish crowns (415 usd)!!! but that´s not interesting when it´s so obvious that the update is the problem. Hope that next update will solve this :-(

Turning the flash on in IOS 14 camera app, is now more complicated. Previously, tapping the flash icon used to give you the option of 'Off - On - Auto'. In IOS 14, you have to tap the flash icon, then, in the top/middle of the screen, you have to tap the new '^' icon, this opens a row on icons at the lower part of the screen with another flash icon. Tap the new flash icon, (lower part of screen), and you're then presented with the previous 'Off - On - Auto' options.

Unfortunately, you have to do this EVERY time, as the top button only cycles between, 'Auto' and 'Off'. - Why somebody thought this was a good idea, is beyond me. Quite frankly, its a stupid, pointless, fiddly and time consuming idea.

I have received a call from apple support and they confirm that i will receive a replacement phone for my iphone 7+ and i will receive a confirmation mail for this replacement within 3 businesses days and i will get the new phone (I phone Pro as they promise) through a box.

One week almost passed and i have not received any email confirmation. When i call them back to ask for the confirmation email they told me i have to send my phone first at my cost as the do not send box for out of US and in this case and if it was a technical issue they will replace it with the same model (Iphone 7+) and when i told them that this not what was communicated earlier they told that it was a mistake from the employee.

i was very disappointed at the end.

They wont replace it with any newer than the XR. That is what apple care told me. I’ve got my confirmation number, my email stating that they are sending me a Black IPhone XR 128Gb for my 7+. I received my shipping label yesterday with my RMA and Ref number. I’m currently resetting my device and boxing it up. I’ve still got the email confirmation. But last time I posted it to show someone I got banned 🤷‍♂️ from here.

Hey I’m also a part of the group whos mic’s are not working. But my mic stopped working long before I did the latest iOS update. Took the phone to the Apple store and a certified repair shop both have told me that the mic issue is a motherboard malfunction...anybody else get a response similar?!? I’ve tried all the little bootleg tips to help it start working again..aka hard reset, cleaning it, I even tried using an air gun to blow pocket debris out from the inside of the phone. Nothing seems to work. The only way I can make a phone call is thru Bluetooth in a vehicle aka car, truck, suv....not even headphones with a mic work, nothing that you can hook up to the phone works only thru Bluetooth frequency does the phone make calls...so frustrating since I have taken care of this phone better than any objects I’ve ever owned since I’ve learned my lesson thrashing phones over the past 15 years I went outta my way to see if I could make this one last over 3-4 yrs by truly taking care of it like recommended, but then now I’m being told that it’s a freaking motherboard issue!! Come on Apple wtf?!? Make this ish right!! Any more tips y’all can throw a iPhone players way??

Since they were not calling me, I called Apple support in my own country myself 2 days ago. They looked up my file and found my conversation with Apple support in the US and started acting on that. They said they would send me an SE 2020 to replace my iPhone 7. We are now discussing the details (the discussion now is to arrange that I can send my phone only after I have received theirs.; they told me they could do that if I give a CC number.) Looks good, albeit a bit slow and only working if I myself take the initiative.

Update sent my iPhone 7plus back Tuesday they will receive it today around 10:30 am it says. Then they are suppose to send me a iPhone XR 128GB black to replace my 7 plus that the mic isn't working on.. She said they needed my device so they could run the test at there main repair center to find out why the phones are doing this with the 7-7 plus. They believe its a driver issue with iOS and can be fixed but won't know until they had a device to check and look at. Fingers crossed for all of the people having the same mic issues and for me that they hurry and send me my new XR because this android stuff is garbage when you own all apple products (macbook, iPad, apple watch, airpods, iPhones) and can't use them all together like ya normally do every day lol.

Really same as problems I am having. :( Tried to talk to Apple Support and it seems nothing will release soon and also, if we bring to their service stores, what we have to do is paying a lot and eventually end up giving this phone (which I dont want because it is a souvenir!). I am giving something but if nothing helps I am going to write to Tim Cook!!!!
