iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

I had spoke to Apple support about the microphone issue and unfortunately, they refused to acknowledge that it is a hardware issue that was caused by the update. They have said it as hardware problem that may arise as the IC has limited life period like battery and i have to pay for the repair.

I think i will have to think twice before buying any of apple products again.

I am the UK I have just spent a fruitless hour on chat with Apple. They want $280 if I do a mail in they assure me it’s a holding charge! I can take it to the store but that may be a waste of time and in these covid times a unnecessary risk to life and limb. Question: has anyone the UK had their iPhone 7 replaced due to a faulty microphone?

I passed down my iPhone 7+ to my teen son and after updating it to iOS 14, he can’t make or receive ANY calls or FaceTime. He can’t take pictures either; it’s basically an iPod now!

I spent too much money on this crap to get an update that basically bricks your phone. I’ve tried hard restarts, factory reset and deleting settings... they all work for one or two calls and then back to not working.

Apple is known for killing devices after updates... this **** is frustrating.

Apple care contacted me and did not take care of me and I live in the US. I even contacted Tim Cook's office and a rather rude person called me and told me that this was a hardware issue, that there is no possible way a software upgrade can cause this (despite a couple of Apple Support Techs telling me that updates can disable suspect hardware) and that he could assure me that absolutely no one was getting any sort of free replacement. I feel lied to.

14.3 update doesn’t solve the microphone issue. The mic on my iPhone 7 still doesn’t work. It is apparently a hardware issue cause by the iOS13 update in my case. Apple refuses to accept that the mic hardware malfunctioning has been caused due to their software update. I have contacted Apple support multiple times and reported the issue. They will not help. They want us to believe that thousands of iPhone 7 and 7 plus handsets got damaged due to the customers’ fault. They selectively offer replacements in some centres based on the extent of the legal threat a customer poses. Apple doesn’t really care much anyways in the developing nations...and I can’t do much about it, so switching to Android seems to be the only solution I guess.

I now have an iPhone X that works (camera, flash and mic), and don't dare to upgrade to 14.3 cause I fear it may break something (e.g., I saw the post by cali140).

What is the "thing" that some of you (e.g., @MrsOux) mentioned here that "worked"? Just in case at some point I upgrade and get a problem. And what does this solve, the camera/flash, or also the mic?

@cali140: Did the upgrade to 14.3 break down the camera/flash on your iPhone X? What about the mic? Does it still work?
