iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

@cali140 mentioned he had the same problem (it was not clear whether it was only the camera or the mic also) on an iPhone X! I have that model and don't want to go through the same nightmare with this one. Anyone else having problems with updates on this model?

Hello, my microphone stopped working after one of these updates. Had the camera issue too, but another update fixed it.

What really bothers me is that it seems to be a software problem, and I can't believe that Apple is not fixing this issue. Due to the microphone issue, I cannot make phonecalls: the most important thing a phone can do. This also means I cannot call 911 when there is an emergency or other dangerous situations in which I need to make a fast phone call and don't have time to turn on and connect my bluetooth headset, which only works when charged.

I know there's always rumours that Apple ruins phones with updates like this, so we buy more phones. But at the moment I don't have money for a new phone, neither do I want to invest in a company that does such things. So I guess I will be stuck with my broken phone and will die in a house fire, because I cannot call the fire station in time.

I have not seen Apple do anything to fix the front facing cam issue, but no mic is pretty serious and the FCC might want to know about it. You might want to look at contacting them if you have the time. I don't want to buy a new phone either, nd I m not a fan of the droids but I might look into a older droid for now.

same thing is happening for me and i got the iphone 8 which i got last year. i went to apple support and they said it needs repairs which i don't believe. the camera and flash sometimes works but most of the time it doesn't. its really irritating and i hope apple fixes it with the next update.

I might end up buying a cheap droid because I don't have $1000 to replace my iPhone. I ordered a front facing camera that I am going to swap in, but if it doesn't work I might give up on my apple phone. I have had almost every iPhone made, but tired of the software updates being forced on me to ruin my phone.

So, should they replace my phone? Is no more under warrany.. just call apple support and ask for a replace with a new phone several times? Why should they do that? Ok, it’s their fault this bug, but i think i should pay something to get a better phone.. and i don’t have apple care, is it a problem?

Good point. My 15" Macbook Pro was going to be replaced this year a 16" but it seems I can't trust their updates. I won't own products the company won't stand behind.

I spent over an hour today on chat with apple support to be told that software updates can cause failures in hardware to appear. Which means the change in software is what caused the issue. Despite this Apple will not provide a remedy for the problem or a replacement. They wont even provide a credit if I'm willing to pay for an upgrade. This is totally unacceptable. I was always willing to pay for Apple products because they came with the treatment one gets when paying a premium as well as great service. Now they're fighting for the market and treating customers like a Cable company does. They know they have you and they don't care about you now.

As part of my hour long chat with tech support (on two levels) I noted this page and others who have had similar problems. The tech support personnel basically dismissed this forum as the rants of complaining customers. This signals a pretty big shift in how Apple views their customers.

That is the standard company line for this. If you look around there's at least one instance of a guy buying into it and getting his camera fixed at an Apple store. He came to pick it up and tested it in the store - the camera still didnt work.

This is such ******** I pay 1200 fir a phone I’ve had fir 6 months and it’s got all these problems pages sticking, camera crashes all I have is the black screen of death and no cleaner pro or anything you’ve suggested worked!!! I need serious help here half my texts take ten minutes as some buttons don’t work unless you keep pounding on it!! How can one update destroy a phone????

I’m having the same problems on my iPhone 8. Camera is a black screen. Calls get dropped for poor connection and FaceTime won’t even go through because of poor connection. Apple support and advisor keep trying to say it’s the SIM card, which it is not. It is an iOS 14 problem. They also act like they have never heard of these issues before which is impossible if you look at how many people are complaining of the same thing here and elsewhere with a simple search. How is this not fixed het

We’re all having that problem with the software. Unfortunately apple insists that we’re all having a hardware issue. Shame. I converted a lot of people to Apple. Now I’m going to convert them to other brands.

This is an Apple support community. Despite the fact that Apple controls it and all the information I was hoping to find out whether anyone has a solution. But really just to watch Apple keep kicking me after I supported them for all these years.

Me too. After iOS 14, my iPhone 6s+ is currently malfunctioning for its 3rd day now. I noticed it started restarting on its own 3 days ago, then yesterday, most apps can’t be opened, or doesn’t load properly. App Store is inaccessible, too. Maps and everything else that needs “location” are inaccessible. This is a nightmare!

Hi… same for me also after I updated my iPhone XS to iOS 14.6 my camera started to not work. From every app I tried but them camera was not turning on it was in black screen even my flashlight was not opening. I restarted my phone . Formatted my phone . Tried to switch my camera on from setting but still it’s same and it’s not opening idk why did I updated my phone what should I do now guys please help me
