iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

No. There are no bugs in ios14 or 15 that will do this

First try a Forced restart

https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/force-restart-iphone-iph8903c3ee6/ios

If no better

Backup and restore (using the computer method preferably)

(1)How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

Unlock your SIM PIN if it has one

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

If the problem remains then arrange a repair

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Hi, so I too am experiencing the same problem, but I did find a turnaround which kinda works:

  • Turn on the flashlight toggle from the control center and keep it on, but the flashlight won’t turn on
  • Then open an app which uses the camera and wait for 3-5 seconds. The image does show up, at least it did in my case
  • Only downside., you have to perform the above steps each time you don’t get an image from the camera.

Hope this helps you out

to all the Iphone 11 Pro users having similar issues with rear cam blackscreen, I tried all possible solutions found on the web and here’s my conclusion:

  • upgrade to 14.2 beta does not solve the problem
  • hard reset doesn’t either
  • flashlight/timer combinations doesn’t work either
  • native camera app just doesn’t let you take pictures using rear cam, front one does work
  • flashlight doesn’t work

fun fact - tried taking pictures through Adobe Lightroom. There’s no blackscreen but the pictures are blurred

2 part post (Part 1 Rant & Part 2 solution)

Part 1:

I know a lot of people are having the same problem as me. Non functioning mic and now camera. The mic I can’t fix and I believe they straight fked it with software update iOS 13. I’m trying not to lose my streak with friends for Snapchat and non functional camera is not good. This is not uncommon for Apple to do. Remember the whole battery random shutdowns? Yeah they were exposed and fined for slowing. It’s happening again.

Part 2:

So I randomly found a fix to accessing cam or enabling myself to send a Snapchat. I have a iPhone 7+. I swipe up to access flashlight on phone and turn it on (flash light won’t turn on that’s fine). Then go to your camera or Snapchat app. It should enable and you can then take a pic or snap. I rid on here someone tried using the timer to turn it on. Try using other camera related functions to turn it on. If this method doesn’t work. If Apple finds out these “camera hacks” work they will try to fix them if they are trying to force us to buy new phones. If your listening Apple it’s a double edge sword cause you might force us to buy other brands like Samsung for those who are fed up with your tactics. Good luck. I might sound like a conspiracy loony to some of you, but I’m just a frustrated user like you.

Hey guys! After nearly four months of using ear buds to talk on my iphone 7+, Apple replaced it with a brand new phone! I spent lots of time on the phone with customer service and Apple Support and they tell me that my phone will be used by engineers to figure out how to fix the 7+ issue. I am a happy customer! My advice to you is to directly to Apple Support.7+, Appl

my front facing camera option stopped working 2 days ago before the 14.4 update on my 7+. It stopped on all Videochat apps. WhatsApp video calls failed. Instagram video not an option. Messenger video not an option. Selfie in camera app not functioning. Tried every single thing. Restarting, power off for a while, reset settings, updated to 14.4, contacted Apple Support. *Nothing is a fix.* going to try to backup my phone and restore to factory settings.

I have noticed that if I open control center and wait for the NFC icon to flash (which it doesn't always do) then the camera and flash will work for a period of time. If I wait, it stops working again and it stops working if I reboot. It seems that when I get it working it will work just fine for a number of minutes before it stops working.

This phone was purchased new and the only thing done to it was the Apple Store replaced the battery in December of 2018. I tested my restore on a different iPhone 7 and it's fine. So, there seems to be something specific about a few iPhone 7's that 14 doesn't like but 13 is fine with. Dunno if something was disturbed when having Apple replace the battery caused this or if that's totally unrelated.

Hi All, I am also facing the same issue, with the previous upgrade my microphone stopped working and now after ios 14 upgrade my camera and flash light is not working. I tried switching on and off multiple times but still no fixes. I am frustrated with the service and upgrades provided by Apple. Hence I requested you Apple to help me and solve my issue..I am using Apple since a long time but this time I feel hopeless.

I have the same problems , it’s frustrating that so many people have these issues and the best Apple support can tell us to do is perform a reset , I was on the verge of buying and iPhone 11, but if this is apples way of supporting their product, even if it’s older , think I might have to consider changing. Dissatisfied customer right here.I went from having a fully functional iPhone , updated to the new “better” iOS , now I have a useless brick.
