iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

The same thing happens to me on my Iphone X, a technician told me that the camera can be changed but the best thing would be to wait for an update. A friend exchanged his camera with that technician and a few days later IOS 14.1 came out; He updated and the front camera went black again. The problem is with the software and at the moment we can do nothing but wait for a solution from Apple. Greetings

iOS 14.0 broke my iphone 7 front facing camera. I was hoping 14.1, 14.2, or 14.3 would fix it but no luck. Apple just pretends its a hardware issue and they're ignoring it.

The iPhone X is to new for them to break on purpose so you're forced to upgrade. I would make sure you have a current back up and then do a full reset - that should solve it.

@figante when I turned off the NFC reader, my camera worked again, but I was still having mic issues and couldn’t video call on any application. I did a “reset all settings” - so I didn’t lose anything except settings. After this I was able to video call, mic worked, etc.

Just tonight I’ve realized I can’t record video only take still pictures.....so not sure what is going on. It seems like the issues float in and out (and probably aren’t able to be recreated by Apple’s QA people which is why they can’t claim the issue or fix it.)

I have noticed that if I open control center and wait for the NFC icon to flash (which it doesn't always do) then the camera and flash will work for a period of time. If I wait, it stops working again and it stops working if I reboot. It seems that when I get it working it will work just fine for a number of minutes before it stops working.

This phone was purchased new and the only thing done to it was the Apple Store replaced the battery in December of 2018. I tested my restore on a different iPhone 7 and it's fine. So, there seems to be something specific about a few iPhone 7's that 14 doesn't like but 13 is fine with. Dunno if something was disturbed when having Apple replace the battery caused this or if that's totally unrelated.

2 part post (Part 1 Rant & Part 2 solution)

Part 1:

I know a lot of people are having the same problem as me. Non functioning mic and now camera. The mic I can’t fix and I believe they straight fked it with software update iOS 13. I’m trying not to lose my streak with friends for Snapchat and non functional camera is not good. This is not uncommon for Apple to do. Remember the whole battery random shutdowns? Yeah they were exposed and fined for slowing. It’s happening again.

Part 2:

So I randomly found a fix to accessing cam or enabling myself to send a Snapchat. I have a iPhone 7+. I swipe up to access flashlight on phone and turn it on (flash light won’t turn on that’s fine). Then go to your camera or Snapchat app. It should enable and you can then take a pic or snap. I rid on here someone tried using the timer to turn it on. Try using other camera related functions to turn it on. If this method doesn’t work. If Apple finds out these “camera hacks” work they will try to fix them if they are trying to force us to buy new phones. If your listening Apple it’s a double edge sword cause you might force us to buy other brands like Samsung for those who are fed up with your tactics. Good luck. I might sound like a conspiracy loony to some of you, but I’m just a frustrated user like you.
