iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

I have the same problem, iPhone 7 and an iOS13 update broke my mic - I have to use a bluetooth headset for calls. Now iOS14 has broken my camera - the screen is black! Apple ran a hardware test and found no faults. It's an iOS issue yet they're recommending I should buy a new phone - why would I buy a new apple device when updates can break key functions???

I fiddle with the flash a bit and turn it up and down and eventually light on also. But it’s not consistent. Then I open the camera, it’s still black. I wait for a bit, switch to front and back camera and it turns on eventually. But after I quit and come back , it’s still dark. So it appears it’s software related that may happy on special cases. Too many people fall into those cases..

Call support. Hope you have a backup before you did the upgrade. And all photos Abe videos backed up somewhere. I about doing so but still hesitate to do that.

its a reinstall with iOS 13 and perform a restore. I don’t know if my last iCloud backup was good or it my other photos backup are complete. If I do so, I’ll have to check carefully.

I am sure Apple will have this camera issue fix. I just don’t know if you want to there are other things that affect the stability of my phone.

I have the same fucking issue. I am so ****** right now. A perfectly working phone is ruined. I upgraded to 13.7 last Friday, my microphone stopped working. Couldn’t take calls or videos from any app.

Updated to 14 today and bloody camera stops working. I was just clicking photos today morning n then I got a msg from family saying new update may fix your issue.

I do it and boom and another issue. APPLE you better fix this else you are going to lose **** lot of customers

Hi all.

I had the exact same problem with the camera and flash. I updated to IOS 14 from IOS 13.7 and the camera went blank and the flash didn't work. I contacted apple who said they couldn't do anything about it unless I sent it in to a specialist which would cost me an arm and a leg. The issue seemed to fix itself temporarily when the green flashing light next to the battery came on (to supposedly tell the user that their camera was active without their knowledge) and I assume there is just some glitch here and this will remain until Apple release a bug fix with the next update of IOS 14. In the meantime I downgraded my software to IOS 13.7 again by using itunes and the restoration method where I had downloaded the most recent signed version of IOS that wasn't IOS 14 (13.7) I then restored the phone to IOS 13.7 however all data was lost and any backups would force me back onto IOS14. There are multiple videos on YouTube which guide you on a way around this but I will link the video that I used. Everything is working with the older version of IOS.

Hope this help you.

It’s already been reported to Apple Support! I commented few pages back with the options they are giving ya if ya call into support but I’ll post it again.

IF YOU CALL APPLE SUPPORT AND REPORT THESE ISSUES. THEN THEY WILL SUBMIT A TICKET AS THEY DID WITH ME. I HAVE THE OPTION TO GO TO APPLE STORE AND OR MAIL IT IN AND GET REPLACEMENT DEVICE OR UPGRADE IF THEY CANT FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ARE TAKING THE BLAME FOR THE BUGS IN IOS 13.5-13.7 and iOS 14 with the 7-7+.

I reported it in Beta 4,5,6,7,8! And it never got fixed before the release of iOS 14. I also reported the microphone issue in iOS 13.5 but they tried to say I was the only one experiencing the issue. So when I contact apple bout the iOS 14 issues. I linked them to this thread when it had 3 pages of people with same issues and that is when they took notice and give me the option to go to store or mail my phone in.

Need help - got camera back after using 3s timer fix (see previous post) BUT still cannot get the microphone to work. Cannot make phone calls and this is HORRIBLE. It's simple unbelievable that Apple can do this to its customers. It's been too long without a microphone/phone and beginning to wonder the purpose? Force an upgrade? Apple, please come up with a fix!

The same happened to me! My mic randomly stopped working, but I just dealt with it. I couldn’t record audio or anything else and it sucked. Then this new update comes along and my camera and flashlight bother aren’t working. I thought maybe it was just my phone being old but so many others have the same problem. Like wtf?!
