iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

You could raise the issue with them again, but it is clear this issue is not affecting the vast majority of phone owners. I know that's of little comfort when you are one of those who is affected and I do not say this to diminish your issue in any way.

I can't tell you what the particular issue is, only that it does not seem to be universal.

Apple Support cases can be reopened at any time, so at the least it may be worth informing them this issue still affects you.

This is really cool.

Set timer to 3s, take a photo, then wait more than 10 sec, then the camera works again,

but only once, after that still dead no matter how I try.

So if doing that can bring camera back, then I think definitely it's a FW/OS issue!!!

MIC looks also related, pls APPLE fix it ASAP.

Your upgrade completely destroy a Iphone function!

I just got a call from Apple support; the person said that he was informed that I had a problem with the camera and mic. He asked me to explain the whole thing. I told him that the camera problem was solved with 14.0.1, but the mic problem remains. He said he would study my case and call me back tomorrow. It was a very positive surprise that they called themselves! (It is fair to say also the good things, not just complain...) I presume they read the discussions then. I will write tomorrow here after they call me back.

They wont replace it with any newer than the XR. That is what apple care told me. I’ve got my confirmation number, my email stating that they are sending me a Black IPhone XR 128Gb for my 7+. I received my shipping label yesterday with my RMA and Ref number. I’m currently resetting my device and boxing it up. I’ve still got the email confirmation. But last time I posted it to show someone I got banned 🤷‍♂️ from here.

Update sent my iPhone 7plus back Tuesday they will receive it today around 10:30 am it says. Then they are suppose to send me a iPhone XR 128GB black to replace my 7 plus that the mic isn't working on.. She said they needed my device so they could run the test at there main repair center to find out why the phones are doing this with the 7-7 plus. They believe its a driver issue with iOS and can be fixed but won't know until they had a device to check and look at. Fingers crossed for all of the people having the same mic issues and for me that they hurry and send me my new XR because this android stuff is garbage when you own all apple products (macbook, iPad, apple watch, airpods, iPhones) and can't use them all together like ya normally do every day lol.

So disappointed with Apple as my whole family is supporting Apple for years.

I am facing this issue since last IOS update and about 1 month ago.. We can’t even use a basis function of a “PHONE”.

Talked with Apple Support (done factory reset, restores, etc) and went Apple authorized services centre several times and they concluded that it is hardware faulty and need me to pay for repair cost!!

Hopefully they will provide me a win win solution! Appreciate it!!!

Welcome to the club of ‘iPhone 7 & 7 plus Mic not working’ and ‘Apple refusing to accept its fault’. It’s been quite a few months now. The Mic on my iPhone 7 stopped working after iOS13 update. Both the 13 & 14 iOS updates are not compatible with iPhone 7 and 7 plus and have rendered so many phones useless. Apple still refuses to call back the faulty phones.

The issue was fixed for me for the past couple of weeks (only after i fully reset my phone and restart from scratch). The the issue came back suddenly with ios 14.2. Just updated to 14.3 and the problem remains. FYI I'm using an iPhone 11 pro max. Just payed a load of cash to have the best user experience on the market. This is really ridiculous. I am trying to focus on my work and am losing a bunch of time with troubleshooting to no avail. And I'm really surprised there is no clean cut solution offered by Apple

I have had the camera replaced and the flashlight replaced after my iPhone 7plus stopped working after iOS 14 update end of November last year. I went to collect it and the technician said “I’ll just show you everything is working “ before I stumped up the cash for the repairs. Black screen on both cameras and no flash light. Surprise Surprise! Fortunately I still have my old 5s. Cameras and flashlight work too!

Yes, that sounds like what happened to me after upgrading my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14.3 - only in my case the phone function is also acting up in addition to the camera... many times I make a call and although the call goes through (as confirmed by text) the person at the other end doesn't hear anything (and I don't hear anything either).

I hope that Apple fixes this issue in the next update; however, I have lost faith in the updates and wish that I hadn't installed this latest one.

What was especially frustrating is that on Apple Support when I reported that I had seen others with the same issues in this forum, the Apple Support person claimed to not see other similar issues reported. It might be helpful to have some sort of a form to fill out where you can tick off what is and isn't working and add comments as necessary to explain (or something). It is clear to me (45 pages of comments) that others have this issue and I am not alone.
