iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

Hello... after I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to iOS 14, my camera acts up. It doesn't load the camera. I then try to turn on the flashlight but it doesn't work either. Sometimes, I try to repeatedly turn on and off the flashlight until suddenly it works. I then come back to the camera and keep switching the camera modes, and rarely, it functions. Once I exit it an try the camera on an app though, it doesn't work again. Restarting didn't help my problem.

Hi, you can check this: If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working

You can restore your phone as new:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

If the issue persists, you can take your phone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. Book an appointment on getsupport.apple.com or use the Apple Support app.

I have an iPhone XS Max and was there early with the public beta. And suddenly my camera (front and back) and flash was completely out of order.

Apple Support was able to log into my iPhone online and said that the sensors were defective. But how? I am very meticulous and take good care of my things. Therefore the part has never fallen off or something similar. All the tips mentioned above have not worked yet.

I am facing the exact problem with my iPhone7. First iOS 13 update destroyed the Mic and the speaker button greyed out. I am relying on Airpods for making and receiving calls. And the phone is of no use if I forget my bluetooth device and land in some trouble. I can’t even call for help. So yes the basic function of a phone is gone.

Now iOS 14 has rendered the phone completely useless. The camera blacked out, so no pics or videos anymore. The torch is not working so phone can’t be relied upon when in dark areas. Since the camera is not working, I can’t use the QR code scanner and can’t make digital payments by scanning the QR. To add a cherry to the cake, the ‘Hey Siri’ function is not working as well. So all the basic functions of a phone are not working. With so many similar complaints, I am surprised that Apple is not taking any action. It is very annoying and frustrating to be using such a handicapped phone, without any fault of a customer. They are just mentally harassing us and penalising us for having an older version iPhone 7.

Wow. Very aptly put. But wait for a while before Apple deletes your post from the forum...and calls it to be not constructive.. It has already deleted 2 of the my posts on this issue. Apple is just not willing to accept that it’s completely their fault and not a customer’s. What will you call a phone without a Mic, Speaker, Camera, Flashlight and god know what else they are going to take away now. They don’t want to be held accountable for these issues, or call back the defective iPhone 7 lot or replace the phones or refund the money. Pathetic customer support as well.

I too have the same issue with my iPhone 7 Plus, I never connected the mic issue to updates but after seeing all of the comments i realize its more than a technical issue. I updated super excited to try the widgets and now i cant even take photos, snapchat, use my flashlight, make any calls, basically making this a worse Ipod touch. Please apple fix this!

I went to Apple Store and showed the problem which the Mic and Camera were not working since phone been upgraded to IOS 14 before yesterday. They said all parts were fine. They restored to factory default, and still problem. And They suggested to buy the new phone instead iPhone 7 plus. What the ridiculous!!. They have to waning us if there some risk before the upgrade.

The same thing is happening with me with the camera and flashlight in iOS 14. I can’t believe so many other people went through the same thing with the broken microphone in iOS 13, I thought it was something I’d done to my phone.

This is terrible, I guess we’d need to downgrade back to iOS 12 for everything to work again.

Same problem. I was having trouble with my microphone and making calls before the update. My daughter recommended installing the update to try and correct those problems, but now I have more problems - mic, calls failing, flashlight, camera. All important features that I use all the time. I'm not confident enough to try and roll back to the previous iOS, nor to install a beta upgraded version. *sigh* so at this point, I either wait and hope 14.2 comes out very soon and fixes these problems, or I go and buy an SE, which I really can't afford to do right now. This is my first iphone and I've loved it for the time I've had it, but this is very frustrating and not ok.

edit to add - I've tried the flashlight on/off/repeat until it comes on and then turn on the camera fix and it worked a few times but no more. I also tried the 3s timer fix and it didn't work at all.

Instead of recommending all these workarounds (which btw kinda sorta work and have to be done repeatedly), why dont you push out an emergency patch and fix our phones. I have an iphone 7s - my camera got bricked and bluetooth doesnt well either. I hope this isnt a backdoor way of getting us to buy the latest phones. Disappointed by the lack of quality in this release. Please fix it asap.
