iPhone camera not working after iOS 14 update

You could raise the issue with them again, but it is clear this issue is not affecting the vast majority of phone owners. I know that's of little comfort when you are one of those who is affected and I do not say this to diminish your issue in any way.

I can't tell you what the particular issue is, only that it does not seem to be universal.

Apple Support cases can be reopened at any time, so at the least it may be worth informing them this issue still affects you.

Of course, I understand it is a problem of some only. Still they are responsible for what happened. I had hoped they would take it up and do something about this. I could give it a try again... perhaps refer them to this thread. But at some point, if they do not recognise their part, you give up. Guarantee is long gone, so I have little to argue and must rely on their willingness. It is not a new phone, although it was a fine phone and it was working perfectly before the update did this. I talked to my insurance company and their lawyers, and they said they did not see much into getting Apple to do anything...

My examples with a car or a doctor would also apply for a few individual, but I am sure the garage would deal with the problem they caused to my car, and a doctor would have hard times with their license if they did something like this.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine! I lost my microphone after the last update and can only make calls with a Bluetooth, and now after this update no camera or flashlight!! Good grief!

I chatted with apple support about it last night and she said they’re “working on a fix and it’s a software issue affecting mostly iPhone 7 users”. She said that one way they’ve found to get it working is to turn on the flashlight in the control center, and then open the camera app and wait 15-30sec and it should start. I tried it and it did work, but it has to be done every time you want to use the camera until the fix is ready. 🙄

iPhone Xs Max - I had the public beta iOS 14 and sometime after beta 4 or 5 the camera and flashlight was suddenly off.

It also doesn't work with the options already suggested here.

So it is not only a problem of the iPhone 7! I'm very curious if there is still something to save.

They literally ignore me and tell me just keep up to date with release and nothing can be done.

if the support staff tell me nothing further can be done.

Same issue..microphone doesn’t work in any of the apps ..can’t answer calls unless if airpods are connected. Camera not working neither in the social media apps nor the camera app itself, flashlight isn’t working too.

I'm so happy I'm not the only one with the same exact issues with the iPhone 7 Plus. My microphone stopped working a couple weeks ago (most likely after an update), and now my camera + flashlight stopped working after upgrading to iOS 14. I almost ordered a replacement microphone, i'm glad I didn't.

If you go to camera app and put the timer to 3s then hit the capture button and wait for 30s, the camera will turn back on. I hope this helps you all.

if problem persists then close camera app then restart phone and repeat above step.

This is really cool.

Set timer to 3s, take a photo, then wait more than 10 sec, then the camera works again,

but only once, after that still dead no matter how I try.

So if doing that can bring camera back, then I think definitely it's a FW/OS issue!!!

MIC looks also related, pls APPLE fix it ASAP.

i have an iphone 7 pplus and did identify the same functioning issues after my update.

I went to the apple store who told me after diagnosis that it was a coincidence thatthe fault appearss after the update !

Do you have an idea to make me ear ?

I click on apple support link and when i select report an issue and put the serial number of my phone, a massage shown that i am not eligible for this service as my phone out of warranty. I suppose most of the iPhone 7+ users out of their warranty as well.

so there should be another solution from apple for the mic issue.

I just got off a chat with an Apple Advisor and according to them the new iOS brought to late a hardware issue with my cameras? I've had no issues up til this point. It only started as soon as I updated my iOS.

For reference, I have an iPhone X.

Should I just wait for bug fixes?

My camera and flash don’t work. Neither my calls. It’s a very nice update but overall I hate it due to these reasons. It’s annoying, Apple please fix this, whats the point of having such a nice update but a broken phone

I have exactly the same issue. Microphone not working from the previous updates, and now camera and flash not working with the latest IOS 14.

it’s a shame to have a phone then have and not be able to make calls or take a picture because of an update issue! most people that still hold to their IPhone 7 it’s because they can’t afford to get another one right now.

My mic stopped working as soon as I downloaded iOS 13 and now my camera as soon as I downloaded 14. Went to apple store and obviously the “Genius”only solution was to spend £1000 on a new iphone. Apple clearly do it on purpose to get us to spend more money. Mugs
