Notes app on iOS 14 very slow

I have a note on my phone that is very full, it had a lot of information. Let’s say you can scroll for a good 10 seconds from one end to the other. On iOS 13 there were 0 issues. On iOS 14 when I type, it is noticeably slower and laggier. When I type the keyboard letters pop up a second later and the letters on the notes show up a second later too. How do I fix this issue without downgrading?

Made it work by copying the laggy notes entirely and pasting them into a New Note. Navigation/editing is quick again.

major issues with this. i tried to copy and paste sections into new notes and still had massive lag. it's ridiculous.

i've also noticed that it can be fine at the top of a note (but sometimes even then has some issues), then scrolling down to a place where i need to start, that's when the lag crops up. i recently cut up notes into two files and trying to test it on the new file, right at the top, got me lag.

i tried deleting the app and re-downloading; i tried resetting the keyboard; i restarted after all these attempts. nothing has fixed it.

this is completely ridiculous and needs fixing asap.

I'm so glad I've found a thread of people experiencing this issue...but I'm less happy seeing that Apple haven't acknowledged it. They need to, because it's become an absolute pain to work with and now the notes app is borderline unbearable. They need to fix it. I can't believe that something so simple and unproblematic for all these years has suddenly become such a hindrance overnight. Extremely infuriating.

That’s not a workaround as for writing efficiently i use a lot predictive words and slide to type.

Disable Wi-Fi and cellular and closing the app, with battery savings options disabled (both of them) the app isn’t so slow anymore but it’s not as fast as in the past. With medium long notes it keeps feeling sluggish.

I hate rely on third party apps but apple is forcing me to.

Google Docs is more efficient

So far, none of the provided workarounds works for me. I have additionally tried to disable every single automatic text management function while keeping disabled Siri, wifi, iCloud, cellular data, dictate and any other feature that, in my knowledge, could be considered relevant, so this is definitely not a performance issue due to background activities scaling badly with the size of the notes. Also, these notes are indeed structured (many nested bullets) and pretty much lengthy (4 or 5 screens) but I had no issues with any previous IoS version, even in low memory conditions and that was why I loved this system app.

This situation is really frustrating now. If the problem is not officially acknowledged I will consider radical alternatives for Christmas.

I should clarify that the note I was working on wasn’t the entire book, just a few pages. It’s strange because I’ve had much longer notes work fine while I added to them, the issue seems to come and go. When I tested just now it wasn’t as bad but still noticeably slower than typing in messenger and safari.

As a writer you can probably understand why I wouldn’t want to turn off the data...
