iOS 14: Wrong Caller ID on Incoming Call

Hi all, upon updating to iOS 14, the incoming call occasionally shows the wrong contact name.

For example, if Mr. A is calling via direct line, it will show Mr. B calling which is my last call via WhatsApp or LINE.

Anyone would be advise whether is this a bug issue? settings? or etc?

Thank You.

I faced the same issue, i got a direct call but it was showing WhatsApp call and it was showing the name of friend sitting next to me, i asked why he is calling me he said he is not, i showed him my phone saying you are calling me, he showed his phone that he is not, then k answered the call out of curiosity and found that’s my colleague calling me that too on direct line. This is some serious issue.

I still think it is a time problem... (ok it shouldnt happen so its a bug) but since i did what the guý a the apple store told me to do.. it is gone (could be a coincidence) i set the time on automatic and activated the tracking services (that i had on off) and then activated the automatic timezone... i then rebooted the phone and it didnt occur since.

He thinks the bug occurs when your phone time is not the same as the network time.. so it takes the callerid that is closest.. and that would be the last caller.

but hey.. maybe it stopped hapening on my phone as a coincidence.. i do hope they will fix the bug, because i want to turn the tracking services off again.

Hi Luc, in my case, is definitely not a time issue. I have AUTOMATIC TIMEZONE and automatic date/time and I checked my time and is OK up to the second. Also, this morning I had the issue with the last call I did last night... almost 9 hours later. Also, for me, it has been very random. Didn't had the issue for 4 consecutive days and today I experience the problem 4 or 5 times... I hope 14.1 fix the issue.

Latest update from my side. I thought I solved the issue via the Apple support but I did not, unfortunately the origin of the issue was not clear. Now, after many test I carried out, I think the issue is that after a whatsapp call or a skype call (to me it happens with skype) when someone calls you again, the iphone shows the caller ID of the last person you called on Whatsapp or Skype.

If you "kill" the app in the background immediately, then the problem looks gone. I called myself from another phone and funny was that on my apple watch it was showing me the right ID caller, while on the iphone it was showing me the last person I called on Skype. When i killed the skype app then I got the right caller ID. So, mine is not a fix, just a work around :(

Anyone with any update on this would be appreciated.

I also have this problem. Fully updated iOS running on an iPhone 8. Incoming calls will show up as the last person I called on Google Duo.

This is really annoying and creates confusion as I have received calls expecting them to be my mom, when they turned out to be a colleague or my boss (or someone I’ve been avoiding!).

Exactly, same here. I called apple and nothing was solved. They are not aware of the bug, as they told me to call my network operator as they think it’s the cause of the problem. But it’s not. The problem is not the network, the problem is the phone/apps.

The only solution I found by myself: kill the app responsible (e.g. Skype/whatsapp) after using it.

14.1 didn’t solve because they are not aware of the bug. Maybe also you guys try to call them or chat with the support? Then the issue gets more importance.
