Just updated to iOS 14 and iTunes on imac no longer sees my iphone

My iTunes 12.8.2.3 cannot recognize my iPhone after recent update. My iMac is Mid 2011 with OS 10.13.6 High Sierra. It can no longer be updated, and there are no updates for my iTunes. I have restarted my iMac while iPhone was connected and it still won't see it on iTunes. I then shut off my iPhone while connected to desktop and turned it back on. It still won't see my iPhone. What should I do? Is this a bug from the recent update to the iPhone?

After several hours and conversations with Apple Support, I was able to fix it. I ended up having to do a factory reset of my iPhone. I then had to copy a backup file and use a friend's MacBook because my iMac was too old. He had Catalina for OS so it recognized my device. However, after restoring my iPhone my iMac still wasn't able to see it. Eventually, my last call with the probably the 8th consultant over the phone fixed that issue. His suggestion probably could have solved all the time spent fixing it. He had me go to Apple iTunes webpage, https://www.apple.com/itunes/?cid=OAS-US-DOMAINS-itunes.com. I had to download a driver (12.8.2).

Thanks SO Much for this Paulmont!

i was having the same issue, and your link solved it! I was skeptical bc it seemed to be downloading just another 12.8.2.3,

but when itunes reopened it offered an update for my phone to be recognized!

Wonder why Apple wouldn’t provide this without making customers jump through hoops!

My old Mac Pro Tower has been upgraded to its max, still works great and I have no need for anything beyond High Sierra now.

Thanks very much!!!

Thank you! :) Yes, I did see that you had the same version of iTunes as what I had, which is why I was confused by the solution offered. What I overlooked was that the solution posted immediately below your original question was actually posted by yourself... but it all makes sense now. Just tried that and I can see my iPhone now, yay! Thank you for sharing the tip.
