iOS 14 / Watch OS 7 Fitness and Health Apps issues

So, I have a couple of big issues with Apple Watch (Watch OS 7) and iPhone (iOS 14) and the Fitness and Health Apps:

  1. Workouts that I record on watch don’t transfer to iPhone Health App anymore. The rings in Fitness App on iPhone do reflect the workout, but the workouts themselves don’t show up anymore. Worked perfectly in iOS 13, function is dead since update to iOS 14.
  2. Fitness App on iPhone does not correctly sync to Health App on iPhone anymore in iOS 14. Example, steps at the end of the day in Healt App on iPhone are 30 to 50% below what Fitness App on same iPhone shows (Fitness App on iPhone though is in line with Fitness App on Apple Watch).
  3. Fitness App on iPhone shows wrong information. Example, I have Stand goal now at 10 of 12 hours which Fitness App on iPhone Shows correctly, however only 7 of the turquoise bars are highlighted.
  4. In iOS 13, resting energy was estimated and recorded in Health even if Apple watch was not worn, eg at night. In iOS 14, Health records resting energy only when watch is worn, which results in a wrong overall number for the day (this causes other apps like LoseIt to work incorrectly).

Anybody else with similar issues?

So this appears to be the official solution for now:

I did the entire reset of both my iPhone and Apple Watch as detailed above. As time consuming and inconvenient as it is, it appears to have corrected all of the issues I had with the flow of health data from my watch to my health app and onward to other apps such as LoseIt and AutoSleep.

Much the same issues. Workouts seem to record correctly on watch, but the data (even stand data) makes it to the phone only in bits (lots of holes in the data). My sleep app (Autosleep) has stopped working because the phone does not receive all heart rate updates. My watch will no longer unlock my MBP; says it cannot communicate with the watch.

14.01/7.01; latest Catalina.

No amount of reset/reboot/re-pairing as new watch, etc. has helped.

Really frustrated; this was all working great b4 14/7

It's a pity that Apple didn't sort this out with all the IOS 14 betas they put out

Lately Apple seem to be following Windows of old e.g. release buggy software and let the poor unfortunate customers do the testing for them. Saves them lots of money which is the name of the game. Infuriating indeed, I've always updated when software updates come out but I think from now on I'll wait until at least 5 or 6 updates are released, by that time hopefully they'll have ironed out all the bugs.

It's no what I expect from Apple, we pay a big premium when purchasing the hardware and deserve better

not happy. I upgraded phone 3 days ago new iOS 14 and fitness app and Attain health app not syncing.

now 1 years of data has gone. My weeks fitness goals that were met gone which costs me money with my Attain health app.

I have noticed that while fitness app tracks distance correctly it seems to stop tracking heart rate after about 10 minute and also no map data.

I have now unpaired my watch and re-paired it as a new watch (not restored from backup), running the public beta of watchos 7.1.

No improvements at all as far as I can see.

I have also noticed that if I go check all data for heartrates in the Health app on my phone, for a fraction of a second it shows me values from the most recent days. However, after a very short moment this changes so that it shows values from 2017 (and older if I scroll down).

It’s beyond me how Apple could make this version pass through all beta phases into a final release.

I got map data on workouts working again on new runs! On my iPhone 8 I erased All content and Settings and setup the phone again from an iCloud backup (I also enabled High Heart Rate Notifications and Irregular Rhythm Notifications for the **** of it). I also un-paired and re-paired my watch a few times before, but that didn't seem to make a difference.

But still no map data on any old runs, only the start point as before reset.

Hello - I am having similar issues after updating both my iPhone (iOS 14) and newest watch software. When using Strava for Apple Watch my bpm on activities doesn’t transfer correctly to health data. I can no longer see my workouts when using the activity app on phone that has been recorded via Apple Watch. There are a number of issues with this software. Please help!

Just chiming in that I've had the same issues since updating my XR and Watch series 5 to iOS 14 and watchOS 7 on launch day. My watch appears to be capturing all the data, otherwise steps and activity and what not would be wrong in the Fitness app. That stuff seems right, though. But for whatever reason, it's not all making its way back to the Health app, which sucks. Everything is about 30-ish percent undercounted there. I haven't unpaired my watch yet as that's a big pain, but I might give it a shot soon. The point updates last week didn't help, either.

My Fitness app is now totally useless. I have the latest software updates on phone and watch. I updated on the 26th. This issue started overnight. Just noticed it this morning, the 29th. And the iWatch app on my phone only has some functionality. It freezes when I go into general settings, and some other settings as well. Not a happy camper here. Was logging fitness, heart rates, and workouts for cardiologist appointment I have next week. :(

unfortunate success:(

I have tried all of the suggested fixes (un-pair/re-pair as new watch, reset network connections on phone, restarts, etc) with no luck. Dropped heart rate data, incorrect workouts, no maps from workouts, momentary iPhone freezing in many core apps (phone, camera, mail ...) and no unlocking of MBP from watch.

I finally bit the bullet and burned it all - unpaired and erased watch, reset and erase iPhone. I then restored the iPhone from the iCloud backup and re-paired the watch as new. The good news - my workouts seem to be recording correctly without dropped heart rate data and with maps.To early to say if the app-freezing has gone away. The bad news: still no MBP unlock, (and this is disastrous), though my past Activity was restored from my iCloud backup, ALL of the map data from years of past workouts is gone. This is my log of lots of great hikes in the past.

I shouldn't have trusted Apple with the data.

This happened to me and I was getting very frustrated, as trying to push for a watch software update didn't help (just kept spinning - no verification that software was up to date or that there was an update). I tried unpairing and re-pairing the watch, which still didn't work. Finally, I restarted the watch itself which worked. Hope it does for you too!

Fitness is terrible, I do the same workout every day so numbers should be consistent and they were with the Activity app (Now Fitness) on IOS 13.7 and WatchOS 6. Now I get different numbers on my Watch, Fitness and Health which makes no sense.

Activity was a great app but it's replacement Fitness is totally messed up in IOS 14.0.1 and WatchOS 7.0.1

Also maps of my previous workouts have disappeared and in Fitness app only the start location of workout pinned with the rest of the map blank.

How beta testers didn't pick up on this, I can only surmise that they never did a workout to check it. All they praise is emoji's and the final arrival of widgets. It's pathetic, they should have left the old Activity app which was working perfect. It's a mess and very infuriating. No mention of an update in IOS 4.2 beta either in fact all the reviewers seem to be in the dark about the problem

On the YouTube reviews of IOS 14.0.1 I have looked I watch I mention the problems in the comments but I've had no feedback from any of these reviewers so I can only assume they don't read the comments

I would urge everyone that has the problem to spread the word about it and maybe, just maybe we might get some action on it before IOS 14.9.9 sometime next August.

Exasperating that Apple would release such bug ridden software, reminds me of the bug ridden versions Windows, I'd go back to Windows XP if I could, Windows 10 is rubbish.

So called 'progress' sometimes not for the better!!
