iOS 14 / Watch OS 7 Fitness and Health Apps issues

So, I have a couple of big issues with Apple Watch (Watch OS 7) and iPhone (iOS 14) and the Fitness and Health Apps:

  1. Workouts that I record on watch don’t transfer to iPhone Health App anymore. The rings in Fitness App on iPhone do reflect the workout, but the workouts themselves don’t show up anymore. Worked perfectly in iOS 13, function is dead since update to iOS 14.
  2. Fitness App on iPhone does not correctly sync to Health App on iPhone anymore in iOS 14. Example, steps at the end of the day in Healt App on iPhone are 30 to 50% below what Fitness App on same iPhone shows (Fitness App on iPhone though is in line with Fitness App on Apple Watch).
  3. Fitness App on iPhone shows wrong information. Example, I have Stand goal now at 10 of 12 hours which Fitness App on iPhone Shows correctly, however only 7 of the turquoise bars are highlighted.
  4. In iOS 13, resting energy was estimated and recorded in Health even if Apple watch was not worn, eg at night. In iOS 14, Health records resting energy only when watch is worn, which results in a wrong overall number for the day (this causes other apps like LoseIt to work incorrectly).

Anybody else with similar issues?

Problem number 1 and 3 have been happening for me as well. Support said they're looking into it. For me, it started with my walking/running path location not showing up with my workout in my fitness app and then evolved into workouts no longer syncing with my phone at all. Pairing and repairing didn't help at *all* and made the issue worse.

11 Pro iPhone, ios 14.0.1 - Apple Watch 5, ios 7.0.1

Workout ring is showing 0 after a 30 minute indoor walk using the Indoor Walk icon. This has been happening since the upgrade. I was able to import data one time, but today after my walk there was nothing registered under Workout. According to the listings in this section, this is a problem since the update. Stand and Move appear to be ok, but not Exercise; Apple...please fix this.

This might be a solution? At the very least apple acknowledges the problems. I’ve tried everything except restoring iPhone from back up. Going to do this today and will let you know if it was successful.

Apple should get their finger out and release an update to fix it.

Having their customers go through this rigmarole not knowing if in the end it will work, there's no guarantee that it will or that we will lose some of our data.

It reminds me of how Microsoft used to treat it's customers back in the day.

So come on Apple and release a patch for your crappy programming, it's on them to sort it out and not it's customers.

Says how low Apple hold their customers

I'm going to wait until Apple sort it out

Still no 'reviewers' have mentioned this very important glitch for anyone that uses Health app for medical reasons of whom there are many.

I certainly will have to consider Apple's treatment of us when it comes to updating gear in the future.

All the same issues.

Additionally, because Support had me re-set calibration twice, my calorie tracking is janky now, except for (ironically) the workouts that aren’t being saved to the apps.

Oh, and super small, but the Stand bars only work sometimes now. I still get credit for the Stand hours, but the blue bars actually appearing is hit and miss.

Spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple last week, but only found out these were Known Issues after coming here.

I wrote my Support person the other day, linking one of these posts. She seemed a little more aware that it was an issue and said there was a troubleshooting procedure that she couldn’t share with me via email and could only be shared over the phone.

As that sounds like opportunity for only more unintended consequences, I passed.

It had been years and years since I jumped on a major new update so quickly, because of just this sort of thing. I needed to re-learn that lesson apparently.

Ha. No chance I’d do all that.

I simply unpaired and repaired and nothing tracked for hours. Thats when I finally called Apple and spent two hours doing all the same things I tried myself. Including un-pairing and re-pair.

After two hours, everything on my watch and in my app was still frozen where it was when we started.

What “fixed it”?

Midnight. For whatever reason, as soon as it hit 12 midnight, it started tracking back at the broken level it had been previously.

Enough of their guessing and asking me to risk losing even more of my data.

Clearly the source of the MacRumors article posted above. Glad it worked for you. I’ll already spent hours on this and taking Support’s Official advice, only made it incrementally worse. Hopefully the next significant update sorts it.

If not, maybe by then I’ll be in the mood to spend two or three straight hours effing around with my phone again.

I'm very surprised that none of the reviewers that are plugging the new IOS 14 Watch 6 are mentioning this bug. They are gushing about the new emoji's and widgets which have been on Android phones for donkeys years FFS is that all Apple have to offer ?

Activity app was working great before the 14 and 7 updates, why did they change the name and totally messed it up.

Now they want us all at the risk of losing our data if we don't do everything correctly.

Many owners aren't tech savvy enough to go through the procedure they recommend.

When are Apple going to step up to the plate and release an update that corrects all our issues.

On my workouts I have 3 different numbers in Watch, Health and Fitness FOR THE SAME WORKOUT.

Lots of issues with this very buggy IOS 14, i thought that from 12 onwards IOS versions were going to more stable and reliable.

If you give people the option to wait for a stable bug free update or a buggy update in a shorter time I'd venture that they would go for the first option.

One lesson to take for this is to wait to at least version ?.5.0 before updating because on past history it takes at least 9 months to sort out all the bugs

Last time I'll ever update a new release from bug ridden Apple

Hello All - I have had similar issues with this upgrade with iPhone 8 and Apple Watch 5. I reported earlier in the week.

I noted a few users suggested backing up the phone and then deleting everything on the phone and restore again from back up.

I have done this, I backed up using iTunes on my MAC (I did not use encryption) Deleted everything from the phone and restored. The watch detected the resorted phone automatically and reconnected without any intervention from me.

This does seem to have resolved the issues! The missing workouts are visible and the active energy numbers are correct i.e equal to move energy. My 3rd Party Nurition App is reporting active energy correctly too.

I hope this helps!

Hi all,

Yesterday I erased and restored both my iPhone 11 Pro and my Apple Watch series 5. As a result i lost all my fitness and activity data :( I didn't notice any immediate fixes but today I recalibrated the workout tracking, did a HIIT workout and a 5KM run. I'm happy to report the fitness app is tracking HR data and reporting on this for each of these workouts.

The ECG app/feature is STILL completely nonfunctional, so if anyone has a fix for that please let me know.

All the best.

I called again yesterday and they said they are aware of the problem but don’t have a time frame on a fix. They recommended going back to IOS 13 and gave me instructions. Unfortunately, I don’t have a “profiles and device management tab” because whatever I need has never been installed on my phone. I unpaired my watch and reset it (Apple’s recommendation) and now cannot pair my watch with my phone. I’m super frustrated!
