iOS 14 / Watch OS 7 Fitness and Health Apps issues

So, I have a couple of big issues with Apple Watch (Watch OS 7) and iPhone (iOS 14) and the Fitness and Health Apps:

  1. Workouts that I record on watch don’t transfer to iPhone Health App anymore. The rings in Fitness App on iPhone do reflect the workout, but the workouts themselves don’t show up anymore. Worked perfectly in iOS 13, function is dead since update to iOS 14.
  2. Fitness App on iPhone does not correctly sync to Health App on iPhone anymore in iOS 14. Example, steps at the end of the day in Healt App on iPhone are 30 to 50% below what Fitness App on same iPhone shows (Fitness App on iPhone though is in line with Fitness App on Apple Watch).
  3. Fitness App on iPhone shows wrong information. Example, I have Stand goal now at 10 of 12 hours which Fitness App on iPhone Shows correctly, however only 7 of the turquoise bars are highlighted.
  4. In iOS 13, resting energy was estimated and recorded in Health even if Apple watch was not worn, eg at night. In iOS 14, Health records resting energy only when watch is worn, which results in a wrong overall number for the day (this causes other apps like LoseIt to work incorrectly).

Problem number 1 and 3 have been happening for me as well. Support said they're looking into it. For me, it started with my walking/running path location not showing up with my workout in my fitness app and then evolved into workouts no longer syncing with my phone at all. Pairing and repairing didn't help at *all* and made the issue worse.

With 2+ years of user experience, it’s clear something went off the rails on recording exercise inputs with Series 3 watch and OS 7. The exercise ring reports a third of the level previously reported. Checking Health and Activity apps on the iPhone X reveals inconsistencies in the data captured compared to the exercise level reported on the rings.

I have implemented the suggested fixes, resets, etc. several times to no avail.

Its time for Apple to step up and repair this.

Apple is still selling Series 3!

I just installed 14.1 and I don't see any change. Going to my Health App and looking at the "Show All Data" under Heart Rate I see all the data points briefly, then they all go away. I do not see any history in the Activity app for previous workouts. I did not see anything listed under the More Info for this install. I do not think 14.1 is addressing any of these issues.

I updated yesterday and same issues overnight, I.e. not tracking sleep and not syncing between fitness and health. Repaired for probably the 8th time and no change after the update either.

Super frustrating. Can no longer recommend an apple product if it takes more than 5 weeks to rectify an issue that makes the device no longer fit for purpose. premium product at a premium price with poor service is not really acceptable.

Updated to 14.1 Tuesday evening

14.1 even worse than 14.0.1

No workouts for past 2 days since 14.1 update show up. They are there on the day of the workout but next day have disappeared.

No maps of workout route

Health records 20% + less than watch

Standing time inaccuracies

Really crap battery life

List goes on and on

Instead of fixing BUGS Apple have made things WORSE

I made the mistake of upgrading to 14.1, in the hope that this would fix the issues and instead this has made it worse. I even tried unpairing the watch, which has now lost the workout that i have done today. As mentioned above, instead of fixing the problem, it’s made it worse. Quite frustrating, as this is now going to lose me points with my Vitality membership. Apple really need to to better testing/QA before pushing out these updates.

I had the very same problem. What I have learned since, is that on one of the watch updates it has reset the motion and fitness tracking that sends the info to the phone. You find this in the privacy settings on the watch. I’ve turned this on(reset the watch and voila) and although it’s too early to say right now, but it’s starting to track as expected.
