iPhone Fitness app and Apple Watch Activity app not syncing

Ever since I updated my iphone to ios 14 activity app isn't working properly.

Indoor walk gets recorded in the watch but does not show up in the activity app, outdoor walk workouts are missing, route track map does not appear any more. I tried restarting phone and watch and even unpaired and paired the watch again but no luck.

Does anyone else has similar issues?

Looks like there are lots of bugs in activity app in ios14

I too had this same issue.

I've been working with Apple Support and engineering to fix this, well my problem at least.

I'm happy to say that all is fixed for me, my maps, awards, move streaks are all there and showing.

To start, make sure your data is really there. Look in your health app on the phone.

go to Workouts then scroll all the way down to Show all workout Routes

Tap that and see if the data is really there.

If it is here are the steps that Apple gave me to follow and it worked.

This involves wiping the watch and the phone.

You must use the iCloud back up

  1. Make sure that under iCloud, you have toggle on Health Settings>your name>iCloud>Health>make sure this is toggle on
  2. UnPair your watch from the phone (Watch>All Watches>Your watch tap the !> then tap unpair Apple Watch
  3. Perform an iCloud backup Settings>your name>iCloud>Backup>Tap back up now
  4. In the health app, tap your picture bubble on the top right, scroll down to the very bottom and make sure that the data has been back up. It this does not show the correct date, do nothing else as it will fail and your data will not be correct.
  5. iPhone>Settings>General>Rest>Erase all contents and settings
  6. Restore iPhone from iCloud backup
  7. Repair your watch to the iPhone
  8. Restore Watch from iCloud back up

This is what I was told to do and it worked.

Proceed at your own risk.

Hi all one thing I have realized in past couple of days is all the workouts are getting captured in activity app on iPhone along with the bar graph of stand hours if the iPhone is held in your hand while you stop your workout activity. In such suituation the workout is immdly reflecting in activity app on iPhone. Yesterday I walked 4.5 Kms indoors and closed the workout on I watch while keeping the iPhone on charging and the workout didn’t register in my iPhone but steps and Kms are promptly recorded. Today morning I repeated the same workout same location and while closing the workout on I watch I had the iPhone on hand and the workout is displayed promptly on activity app. I will continue doin so till Apple comes out with corrected debugged software update as I don’t want to go through the pain of erasing and repeating my iwatch and iPhone

I’m struggling with the same issue. Tried multiple restarts, network settings reset, etc. - no luck. Installing 14.0.1 did not solve the problem either.

However, I might have found a workaround which works for me recently: after completing an outdoor workout do not close the workout summary dialog immediately, get back to the iPhone (make sure Fitness app is running in the background and your watch is connected), then click ‘Done’ on the watch.

This works for me in 99% of the cases, I can see the workout record in Fitness app, but no GPS data is still available. Better than nothing though.

Hope this helps.

Had same issue - erratic phone calories compared to watch (iPhone XS Max, Watch 6, latest OSes). Even resting energy was 2 times less than usual. So above procedure worked for me, just one minor thing that GPS data for older workouts (outdoor run) are not showing (just starting point). After this procedure it recorded outdoor run properly, active calories are same on watch and phone, resting energy is fine. I didn't lost any awards or previous workouts. So this worked for me (sorry to repeat)

  1. backup phone to iCloud
  2. unpair watch (during unpairing backup of watch is made)
  3. erase phone (total wipe)
  4. restore from iCloud
  5. pair watch and restore from backup

It all took more than hour but now for 3rd day it's working flawlessly

After updating both the watch and iphone the workouts now sync and with maps yey! However, maps from previous workouts only show back to october 13th. That might be the day I unpaired and repaired the watch, but with a backup so it should still show. It only shows the starting point. I've tried a hard reset on both iphone and watch, it didn't work. And even older workouts doesn't show the map at all.

But it seems to work fine from now on though.
