iPhone Fitness app and Apple Watch Activity app not syncing

Ever since I updated my iphone to ios 14 activity app isn't working properly.

Indoor walk gets recorded in the watch but does not show up in the activity app, outdoor walk workouts are missing, route track map does not appear any more. I tried restarting phone and watch and even unpaired and paired the watch again but no luck.

Does anyone else has similar issues?

Looks like there are lots of bugs in activity app in ios14

I too had this same issue.

I've been working with Apple Support and engineering to fix this, well my problem at least.

I'm happy to say that all is fixed for me, my maps, awards, move streaks are all there and showing.

To start, make sure your data is really there. Look in your health app on the phone.

go to Workouts then scroll all the way down to Show all workout Routes

Tap that and see if the data is really there.

If it is here are the steps that Apple gave me to follow and it worked.

This involves wiping the watch and the phone.

You must use the iCloud back up

  1. Make sure that under iCloud, you have toggle on Health Settings>your name>iCloud>Health>make sure this is toggle on
  2. UnPair your watch from the phone (Watch>All Watches>Your watch tap the !> then tap unpair Apple Watch
  3. Perform an iCloud backup Settings>your name>iCloud>Backup>Tap back up now
  4. In the health app, tap your picture bubble on the top right, scroll down to the very bottom and make sure that the data has been back up. It this does not show the correct date, do nothing else as it will fail and your data will not be correct.
  5. iPhone>Settings>General>Rest>Erase all contents and settings
  6. Restore iPhone from iCloud backup
  7. Repair your watch to the iPhone
  8. Restore Watch from iCloud back up

This is what I was told to do and it worked.

Proceed at your own risk.

I have the exact same problem - even the route of my previous workouts display only the starting location. It seems to be a bigger SW problem in the Apple HealthKit database on iOS 14, since other users are reporting this as well...

I‘ve tried unpairing / re-pairing, resetting / restoring (AW + iPhone) and setting up as new (AW + iPhone) - nothing seems to work.

I guess we need to wait until Apple fixes this issue with a future SW update.

In the meantime we need to address this issue in a single community thread - this one has the most replies so far (please follow up there):

[AW S3 on wOS 7 + iPhone X on iOS 14]

Exact same thing here. Data was syncing perfectly before upgrading to iOS14 and WatchOS7. Went for an outdoor walk this morning and it shows this workout on the watch, but nowhere to be found in Fitness app on iPhone. Tried another workout with same result. Move/Exercise/Stand numbers are showing correctly on phone, but graphics are way off (ie only showing 4 stand hour bars when I have 7 hours). Tried all the suggested fixes with no luck. Really really irritating, hope Apple fixes this soon.

Yes!!! I am glad that I am not alone. I sent a message up to apple app support two days ago about this. My health app is completely out of sync with my watch. I have been using the health app and my watch to track all my fitness progress, nothing has changed except for the iOS update. Now my resting calories average 300 a day - I WOULD NOT BE ALIVE first of all, two I workout 3-4 times a day for 40 to 90 minutes each session. The Health app would say my active energy burned is 50 calories.

My stand hours are all messed up too.

I have an iPhone XS, my husband's iPhone 6 also installed the update and it is working perfectly fine.

Any input to resolve this would be helpful.

Thank you!

I am currently experiencing the same problems since updating both my Apple Watch S4 to the latest WatchOS 7 and my iPhone 11 to iOS 14!

Problems include:

  1. Watch does not sync Workout data to iPhone. I have tried restarting both devices (and yes, bluetooth and WiFi are on).
  2. The Activity move is way off from previous calculations.
  3. When it syncs the activity, it does not sync the heart-rate data.

Would love to see a fix!
