Is anyone currently experiencing lag when typing within iMessage? It seems to happen every time I start typing a new message. Only occurs with the first ~3 letters and, once the lag catches up and those letters are typed, it returns to normal. I’m not sure if this is specific to me or possibly something associated with the new iOS 14 update.

I spoke to an apple tech today. I explained to him about the issue with my Iphone 8 and the typing lag is still there on my Iphone 12. He told me it is a bug that transferred over when I transferred over my data from one phone to the next.
The FIX is to upload photos/contacts/messages to Icloud, do a factory reset, setup as a new phone and then download photos/contacts from iCloud, re download apps. Unfortunately that is the only solution they have found that works. Hope this helps!
Update: I have now taken one suggestion from here (reset dictionary) and one suggestion from Apple support (disable predictive text). Both of these seemed to work for about 4 to 6 days before the phone started to do it again. So it is still happening and the two fixes have not worked.
It’s still happening on latest update, now also in different guises...
As well as the text msg lag coming back, Screenshots take an age to process, can’t always send the screenshot when it does show up at the bottom as the send button lags also
I’ve had apple since the 3GS and if this doesn’t get fixed this 12 pro will be the last iPhone I own
This has been happening to me on my new iPhone 12 pro max. Subtle delay when I begin typing a text on iMessage almost every time. It really only happens with iMessage. It has certainly not been resolved as I am reporting this on Dec 5 2020. So weird. Not sure how to fix this.
as I have said time and time again there is no value getting on here and complaining about this Apple IGNORE most these forums which are set up hoping people will resolve there own issues as they are to lazy to employ a few extra support people I know this from personal experience and also working in the industry.
What you need to do it be hammering this link and reporting the issue and as soon as they are getting lots of reports on it they will acknowledge its a bug but they did not give a **** about these forums have you ever seen an Apple representative respond to this or any post ?
Yea this latest update did nothing for me. Still seeing the lag then sometimes it doesn’t even let me know I have a text message. I have to go to my messages sometimes to see and even pick a message thread then it will update with the text. Today a persons iMessage didn’t come through until I sent him a text first then his did.. I also notice it sometimes on Facebook messenger. It says I have/get a message then I go to look for it and nothings there. Super frustrating.
Why is this marked solved? This issue persists. I hope this is being investigated so that we know if Apple is trying to *** us into buying new phones.
This issue is not yet solved! I am experiencing this issue as well, super lagging when I go to respond to a text in iMessage. Help!
Thanks Long,an619. Just did the keyboard dictionary and it worked. The lag went away. Hopefully for good.
Ugh. Keyboard lag only when text messaging andriod and imessaging other Apple users on my iphone8. Also text message gaming GamePigeon lags.
It’s iOS issue because it’s happening on new phone too.
I’m having the same issue! It’s infuriating. I only started noticing it since I did the most recent update, though. I’m hoping another update will come out to fix this bug.

Exactly the same as above. Reset dictionary on my brand new 12 pro, worked ok for a few days and today it’s lagging again. Fix this **** apple
I’m also experiencing the lag when starting to type a message. Didn’t have this til the latest 14.1iOS release.
Deleted all threads. Restarted. Same lagzzz . Factory reset iPhone. Same lagzzzz. Given the feedback it’s apparent that it’s not a glitch. It’s an iOS 14.x ISSUE that’s NOT RESOLVED
