Is anyone currently experiencing lag when typing within iMessage? It seems to happen every time I start typing a new message. Only occurs with the first ~3 letters and, once the lag catches up and those letters are typed, it returns to normal. I’m not sure if this is specific to me or possibly something associated with the new iOS 14 update.

I spoke to an apple tech today. I explained to him about the issue with my Iphone 8 and the typing lag is still there on my Iphone 12. He told me it is a bug that transferred over when I transferred over my data from one phone to the next.
The FIX is to upload photos/contacts/messages to Icloud, do a factory reset, setup as a new phone and then download photos/contacts from iCloud, re download apps. Unfortunately that is the only solution they have found that works. Hope this helps!
I just reset my keyboard as Katlady suggested and it seems to have gotten rid of the keyboard lag , for now.
Apple please look into this problem.
I am having the same lagging problem on the first three letters of my text also. It’s frustrating to say the least. This started when I installed the new update. Please fix this issue
My typing start appearing like 4 seconds late and it’s seriously annoying. Mine started when the 2nd update for IOS 14 came out. Which i’m pretty sure is 14.1

Same here! It started after the iOS 14.2 update for me. That and battery issues.
This is still an issue with v14.2. Kind of annoying
Also, forgot to mention, the lag problems & all the other described happens on both the green SMS & blue iMessaging.

we just had an update a couple of days ago and I haven’t had any more problems with the typing lag in the text app
The keyboard deletion trick only seemed to work somewhat. I still experience some lagging and it’s so frustrating! Apple Needs to fix this!! I am not buying a new phone.

It’s amazing to me that a company like Apple can have message boards with so many people having problems and yet still completely ignore everyone. What kind of customer service is this? Obviously they couldn’t care less about all of us. I’m so done with Apple. I’ve been a long time Apple user. From way back in the early 90s. But little by little they’ve just lost any respect I once had for them. Things like this amaze me. But people line up around the block to get the next piece of crap phone. At this point I’d rather have a Jitterbug.
I am! 14.0.1 on iPhone 11. Sometimes I can get three words typed before a letter actually shows up in the screen in iMessage. It makes my phone feel broken and slow. Searching google for others with this issue lead me here.
It is almost November 2020 and I am still having this issue. In fact, my phone (11 pro) was stolen 2 weeks ago and I thought when I replaced it this problem would go away. It is not device-specific as my brand spanking new 11 pro (Oct 22, 2020) has this issue. Why is this marked as solved?
Same here. Still have the lag, ever since upgrading to iOS 14. They need to develop a bug fix for this. My phone is the iPhone X shouldn't be lagging with such a new phone. Please provide a fix in the next version. Thanks.
I’m experiencing this too - 15th Nov 2020 now as well with latest available iOS installed - I was starting to get a little paranoid that some spyware was installed - the issue is quite strange how it presents....

I have a recently replaced iPhone XS Max 256 btw (an iP12 is en route).
exactly the same, I recently bought iPhone 11, its currently running on iOS 14.1., first is the iMessage lag issue, its surely very prominent and not just iMessage, sometimes I can feel a little lag on WhatsApp & Instagram messaging as well. Is anyone else experiencing this lag in the messaging in general ?
second, just wanted a quick advise if I should update it to iOS 14.2? will that resolve this issue?
please suggest.
