Airpod Mic not working properly after IOS 14 update

I can confirm with you that as of May 28th 2021, the problem still persists and there is not clear solution by Apple! Very disappointed

I still have same problem. Nothing helps. Microphones not working on any Apple device which I have - iPhone, iPad, MacBook. Strange.

Same issue here. First the left, then the right. Never got them wet. Not damaged. Ever since ios14. Of course I’m out of warranty, thanks apple!

I am having the same issue with my first GEN AirPods Mike not working ever since the new iOS update on my iPhone. They were working just fine before and suddenly not working anymore I can hear just fine but I cannot speak using them. I’ve tried forgetting and redoing them the firmware is up-to-date. I’ve done the Wi-Fi Bluetooth recommendation as well and they still do not work

I have been going nuts for 1 week trying to figure out why the mic suddenly stopped working. One trip to genius bar and it worked for one call thus thought it was fixed. Got home and problem reoccurred and 2 chat attempts and nada. AirPods are just over 1 year old so out of warranty. So frustrating but relieved that this appears to be a problem for several.

I had the same issue. I'm not sure if it's the firmware or my hardware, but going to: Settings-->Bluetooth-->Microphone-->Always Left made it for me.

Automatic and Always Right would not work. Not a fix, but a workaround for now. As I said, I may have a hardware issue, but I doubt it.

So I think, I know where is the problem. The problem is in Automatic Ear Detection when this is on, and your ear peace is in your ear, microphone is not working and headphone symbol is next to the clock, but when you take out the ear peace from your ear the headphone symbol is disappearing and microphone is working, it's like ear peace think is in your ear but is not, and when is in your ear it thinks is not in your ear. I've tried that on iPhone 12 mini iOS 14b8 and iPad Air iOS 12.5.2. Give this a try people and check it for your self. Also if you turn off the Automatic Ear Detection, AirPods microphone is not working at all, but when you turn it back on, is coming back to the same situation I've described at the begging.

So Apple support, are you going to keep ignoring the problem or are you going to fix this issue? There are many of us with this issue and no solution in sight. WTF?!?!?!?
