Any WiFi router that has MAC filter enabled may not accept the “Private” MAC address feature of the new feature added in iOS 14.0.1 to each WiFi profile saved. Turning off the private Mac Address on the specific WiFi profile may allow your device to connect.
Another issue is it connects fine but moments later it prompts for password on a saved profile. Turning off “wifi assist” in Cellular settings (absolute bottom of the list) will allow the device to remain connected on weaker range areas of this wifi profile.
I suspect the failing over to WiFi profile flip flopping is triggering a false positive on the algorithm that the wifi profile saved is incorrect and thus asks for a re-authentication.
so anyone find the solution yet ? this totally sucks though
well my case is different . i literally cant even toggle on the wifi and bluetooth at all . so i totally can't connect my iphone to wifi at all . rip my ceccular data .
I have a similar case. Mi wifi is greyed out, sometimes when I reset network settings, can be that turn on but in those occasions don’t recognize none network.
why was my comment removed
Apple must come up with the solution or you need to change platforms.
Getting more flys with honey than vinegar does not apply to a Apple!!!!!
Tried that. Says for a spilt second its connected then stops & says not connected & pops up "unable to join the network".
Tried it, & I also have other devices that never had VPN downloaded & still have the same issue.
Anote me there. I have the same problem, frequently the wifi is greyed out when it wants turn on, don´t recognize none network, I have from ios 14.3 that I can´t connect me to none network.
I think I've found a solution for my iPhone se 2020, by switching off private addresses it seems to of solved the dropping out and slow broadband problem although I'm not sure this is a long term solution.
To solve the iOS 14 wifi problem you will need to wait for apple to release an update that solves the issue. It is a well known issue. The other option is to switch to a different brand other than apple.
I have similar wifo and data issues. After 14.0.1 i have had internet problems across the board. I am on Verizon lte if im not using wifi and have to reset the network settings on the phone periodically or reregister with the tower in order for me to have internet. If im on wifi i have internet but its limited to certain things. I cannot connect to the app store certain websites, cant update apps or download. Now only thing with that is our internet is through hughesnet and hughesnet has had problems before in the past connecting to the app store but is been fine past year or so but after this update its back
I had this problem too. After 5 hours with Apple Senior Advisors (one of whom promised to call me back but didn't), I spoke with Nick, a non-senior advisor, who found an Apple document dated 9/19/20, that described this problem. The solution was to delete an app (Bitdefender) that wanted to set up a VPN. Deleting the app made the problem go away.
If Apple knew about this a week ago, shame on them for not letting everyone (especially their support people) know
I think I fixed it by turning off Wi-Fi assist. I’ve only been doing this for about an hour as of this post, but the connection has not dropped.
Go to settings > cellular > scroll to the very bottom
Hope this helps!!
iOS update 14.0.1 weak security I have this problem on my WiFi only iPad. Have had to go though my EE router to change security under Sid Management, Changed cipher suite to AES, then change WPA Mode to WPA2 save router settings come out and re join network and has now no weak security notice.hope this helps any one.
1) Remove any third VPN app you may have (don’t just try to shut it: remove it!). Got that issue for 3 weeks and this is what instantly solved it. (Wait for an update from VPN provider, if that’s the case, before reinstalling it....) - We called Apple, we reset the iPhone, I’m just back from the Apple Store (where the wifi was not working on that phone even there - so forget about possible router fault). I was going nuts with this for 3 weeks.... You know when you start thinking to take your iPhone for a covid-19 test.... 🤪
2) update to 14.1 (if you’re still on 14.0.1)
