Orange dot won't turn off on iPhone

When you are on a phone call tap the Mute button and the light will go off.

Although to me this is NOT A FUNNY SUBJECT, I thought I’d share my humor I found in this “issue” at least now you know when “they” are listening to you when you see that orange dot 🟠 as opposed to only thinking or “believing” they are listening to you.

still... I’m with you the fog seems pointless.

What?? If you are not interested in helping go elsewhere. We are trying to figure out why the orange dot is still appearing even when apps are not being alllowed access in prvacy settings. A bug or something nefarious not showing up. ?? Who knows.

I’m having a similar issue. The orange dot isn’t continuously on but it appears randomly and I can’t figure out why. No apps have access to my microphone and NO, I was not on a call. I wasn’t using my phone in any capacity when it has appeared. I moved my phone and the screen lit up and saw the orange dot. I tried control center but it didn’t have any apps using the mic.

Any help appreciated.

I did the same thing and it’s still showing up. Not like a I say anything bad it’s just aggravates me that they invading my privacy like that even after I shut down my microphone on everything and on “hey Siri” it’s still orange when it was green the other day.

No need for all of that and i did that already. It doesn’t tell me what app while I’m on the phone from my control center. Unless your from apple support you don’t need to tell me how it works or how I feel about it. Thank you.

As to how you feel about it, see Apple’s Privacy Policy—>Privacy - Apple. If you “feel” that Apple is lying in their privacy policy you should never use any Apple product, because if they are capable of lying about that they could be lying about anything.

It is worthless and it causes issues with Bluetooth in vehicles. Every time I’m

on a call the person I’m talking to hears themself echo...on their end. But it’s caused by Apple microphone that I can’t turn off? This is BS that I didn’t ask for. Android is looking much better!

By all means get an Android. They are absolutely perfect! No orange light to warn you your mic is on, no warnings that many of the apps in the play store are spyware or worse. And don’t forget to install a good antivirus.

What in the world would you expect to see? When you make or receive a phone call, you are using the microphone. Your claim of invasion of privacy is unfounded and absurd.

So my iPhone has the orange dot in the right corner, I’ve switched everything off it’s still there, it’s a new phone so I’m assuming it’s a bug but it makes me very uncomfortable thinking someone’s possibly listening or recording my conversation. Even when on whatsap call it’s still showing an orange dot. Can anyone help?

When you use the microphone, you will see the orange dot. Plain and simple. If you are that worried about having your conversations recorded, start sending text messages and don’t use the phone as a phone.

How can you be on a WhatsApp call yet have the mic off? I guess you could, but then no one on the call could hear what you say. As explained over and over in this thread, the orange dot means the microphone is on.
