I discovered it’s a conflict having an Apple Watch paired as well to my iPhone. Once I turn off Bluetooth on the Apple Watch directly i.e Setting>Bluetooth then open the AirPods to play music once connected no issues. I then turn back on Bluetooth on the Apple Watch and everything plays well together, unless I disconnect the AirPods, I have to go over the same routine for everything to work together. I believe it’s because off all the recent updates to all the devices and they haven’t tweaked compatibility, or it could just be a faulty AirPods. My left bud battery runs down a lot faster than the right so don’t know if all the issues are related, but I’m returning my AirPods for a replacement or refund. Hope this helps in some way.

This definitely worked for me. I spent about 30-45 minutes chatting with Apple support and set up an appointment to replace my AirPods only to find out that unpairing my Apple Watch was the solution. As soon as i unpaired my Apple Watch and connected my AirPod pros again they worked perfectly. At this point Apple needs to figure out an update to resolve this because it’s a software issue not the AirPods themselves.

I followed the advice of someone in this thread. As soon as I turned the bluetooth off of my watch the airpods connected with no issue at all. Before that they would connect but no audio would play, it would cause apps to crash if they tried to use audio.

To fix it I turned bluetooth off of my watch, put it in airplane mode (not sure if that did anything), connected to my airpods and played audio, and then went back on my watch turned bluetooth back on and airplane mode off. And they magically worked after! Apple needs to get this fixed! you should be able to connect to more than 1 bluetooth device

Hi everyone. I recently posted about my AirPods Pro and issues with it together with solutions. Sry to say that I was sold a very very good clone, that had all the features of the OEM including Apple find my device capabilities, serial number shown in the about device in settings, the full works. What gave it away was the initial setup screen after doing a reset as shown below. I suggest double checking especially if you did not buy directly from apple. Sorry again for my earlier post.

This was helpful! After many calls to Apple tech support and nothing I finally saw this board. I have the 12 pro max and the series 6 watch. Turned off my Watch Bluetooth, connected the airpod pros and turned on the watch again.

This is very silly to have to do though! I only have this problem with my airpod pros. My airpod 2 doesn't have any issues connecting with my watch connected.

if you have an Apple Watch, go into the app, go to accessibility, and scroll down to AirPods, click on your AirPods name and make them default. If you don’t have an Apple Watch, disconnect your AirPods and forget them from your device, hold for 15 seconds until they are orange and then they turn a light purple on the inside, after that connect them back to your phone.

I just the AirPods Pro and having the same issue while using an series 6 Apple Watch. What I have to do in the intern until apple sorts it out is to go into settings > Bluetooth > AirPods Pro and perform the in the ear buds adjust test playing the short melody. Once that works I can play music and use my watch as well. However once the pods are back in the charging case you have to do the process over again for it to work.
