AirPods Pro make my phone freeze up

Is any one else having issues with Airpods to connect when trying to use them, for me to get them to have sound right away in the bluetooth settings i have to go to test the sound for them to work other than that, when i try to connect them the regular way it makes my phone freeze up. Im not sure if it's the new IOS that made them do that or if it's the air pods it self. What should i do about this. or what has help other people.

I resolved an issue where my AirPods Pro were connecting to my iPhone 12 Pro Max, however, my device was glitchy/buggy while AirPods Pro were connected. Not only was it glitchy but the audio was not functioning properly on the AirPods Pro. Considering this issue was discovered day one of the purchase, I was very disappointed. The second gen AirPods worked just fine with my phone AND the new AirPods Pro also worked fine on a different iPhone 12 Pro Max. Only I was having the issue. The only difference between my iPhone and the other was that my iPhone was paired to my Apple Watch.

The issue was resolved by disconnecting the AirPods Pro AND unpairing the Apple Watch from my iPhone. The AirPods Pro were then re-connected without audio issues and without bug issues. Once it was determined that the AirPods Pro were no longer a problem, the Apple Watch was re-paired. Now all three devices run smoothly.

If you have any other devices (Apple Watch, Bluetooth Speaker, etc) that are connected to your device via Bluetooth, I would suggest unpairing them first before pairing your AirPods.

I have the same problem. I just found out that if I use AirPod Pro alone with my iPhone, it will work fine. But as soon as I connect my iPhone with other Bluetooth devices such as Apple Watch or Car Link, my phone will freeze. So, as long as you use your AirPod Pro alone with your iPhone, your phone will work fine and do not connect other Bluetooth devices to your iPhone. There are so many people have the same problem and Apple should fix this.

Hello desi145,

We certainly want you to be able to use your AirPods without issue. We’d be glad to assist. To start, let’s reset your AirPods using the steps outlined here and see if this issue continues:

Reset your AirPods

Does this also happen when the AirPods are connected to another device running iOS 14 or another device running an iOS version prior to iOS 14?

Connect and use your AirPods and AirPods Pro

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Take care.

I was having the same issue and was so frustrated. I found that this only happens when my Apple Watch is connected as well so I turn my Bluetooth off on my Apple Watch settings, put my air pods in and wait for them to connect and then re turn on my Apple Watch blue tooth and wa la! Everything works perfect with just a couple extra steps.

Hey everyone. I just returned from the apple store with the same issue. I spent 3 hours on the phone with apple support yesterday so I went in today. Turns out my dad got ripped off and the AirPods he purchased on Amazon were fake even though he paid full price for them. Check your AirPods ppl make sure you’re not getting ripped off too. They look JUST like the real ones wrapped in the box and everything. Very subtle differences.

When I went to the apple store, she was able to tell when she look up the serial number because the numbers didn’t match. It also said that they were purchased on 12/7 and the warranty was expired. The AirPods themselves had subtle differences which were hard to see without another pair of AirPods to compare them to. My case says assembled in China and the real ones said assembled in Vietnam. The font was slightly thicker on my case and on the AirPods themselves too. They are so similar it’s tough

A very infamous problem right now.

Many have been infuriated when AirPods Pro started not working, and now, whenever the AirPods Pro is connected to the iPhone, it will freeze the iPhone. Happened with me too in the past.

  1. Reset your AirPods
  2. Turn Off Bluetooth in Apple Watch.
  3. Turn On Airplane Mode in Apple Watch.
  4. Update iPhone To The Latest iOS Version.
  5. Restore iPhone To Factory Settings.
  6. Connect A Different Pair Of Bluetooth Headphones.
  7. Go To Your Nearest Apple Store.

I just recently started having this problem because I just got an Apple Watch. I kind of figured out how to keep the Air pods and Apple Watch connected to your phone. This is what works for me I am not speaking for everyone but me. It’s your choice to give it a shot. What I did was I turned off Bluetooth on the Apple Watch. After that I connected my airpods to my phone. When I finished connecting the airpods I turned the Bluetooth back on the Apple Watch. And it’s done both are connected. I haven’t experienced any freezing or glitching after I did this. Like I said before I’m speaking for myself, what’s worked best for me. It wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot. Let me know if it works for you. All the best!
