Apple Watch Series 6 not ringing on incoming calls

The watch just updated to 7.0.2 and is now not displaying incoming calls but it is able to make calls? I reset the watch and it is still not working....

Anyone have CarPlay? I found mine stops ringing after a CarPlay connection (mine is wireless) until I reboot my phone - rebooting the watch doesn’t fix it & I only need to reboot the phone not both. After reboot it works fine until the next CarPlay connection.

FYI...I just contacted Apple and this is what I got from them...

“But I can say we're absolutely looking into the issue and working to get it resolved. I can't give an exact time frame, but definitely keep your Watch up to date, and you should see that soon!”

I would recommend everyone jump on with Apple support ASAP and let them know the issue. The more people that tell them it’s an issue the quicker they will get it resolved. It takes just a couple of minutes but they don’t monitor this message board. So please get on with support and tell them you’re having the same issue.

Just an update.

After disconnecting from car play the watch doesn’t receive call notifications anymore. (This is after a factory reset on both the watch and phone with a new setup, not from backup)

as mentioned before my wife has the same setup and hers works after disconnecting from CarPlay.

hopefully apple sort this out as it’s annoying!

My wife and I both have the same issue on different sets of similar devices and cars: BMWs with wireless carplay, iphone 11 pro, aw5gps.

Issue was introduced with ios14/wos7 upgrade, so I dont believe it is hardware related.

If not everyone has it, maybe it is related to apps that we have/use, or it happens to someone even with blank setup with no user apps downloaded?

For example, I and wife use google maps as navi on carplay.

I have an open case with Apple Enterprise support on this issue for the last few weeks. They have pulled diagnostic logs from my phone and watch multiple times. They seem eager and willing to find the issue. In my experience in troubleshooting this I feel it is vehicle specific. I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with wired CarPlay that has the problem. My older Nissan with an aftermarket CarPlay receiver has no issues. For me, the issue occurs only when I cut the car off and open the door so the infotainment system then shuts off "before" I pull the lighting cable, about 90% of the way I do it. If I pull the cable from my phone before CarPlay shuts off I NEVER have the issue. I have tested and tested this so many times I've lost count. I think it has something to do with the way the vehicle is sending a disconnect or maybe not sending the disconnect command to the phone so perhaps the phone still think it's connected to CarPlay in some way. Rebooting the phone resets this. This would explain why it doesn't happen to everyone. For the wireless CarPlay users if you turn off WIFI before you shutoff your vehicle do you still have the issue? I think there have been several posts that this was proven true. For you wired folks like me, if you unplug the lightning cable before your CarPlay turns off does your watch ring normally every time? I am sending more diags to Apple once I get home today as requested by Apple Engineers. I am very hopeful we are getting to a resolution with this.

Agree

>For the wireless CarPlay users if you turn off WIFI before you shutoff your vehicle do you still have the issue?

Unfortunately, in my wireless case such workarounds doesn't provide consistent outcome.

Meaning, when I quickly jump out of the car after parking with headunit still on and carplay connected ( as I always did on ios13 and it was all fine), with ios14 calls will be broken 100%.

If I manually disconnect carplay/wifi, or alternatively just switch off the car and fait few mins for headunit to go to sleep before exiting the car, afterwards calls may work or may not work. Lottery.

Actually bug is present and reported since ios 14 beta 1, ie since July 2020. So I'm loosing faith...

It's great to get the updates guys! Please keep us posted if you hear anything more! This is ongoing the past couple of months and I'm not holding out much hope either....

But at least there is a good few examples of the issue.

Is there anything I can do to raise this?

I've submitted it through feedback on the latest beta version but I don't know if I could do more?

Similar issues as above - BMW Wireless Carplay, iPhone 12 Pro Max and Apple Watch 4.

Maybe with iphone 12 you may want to contact support as some others.

With my "old" devices support has expired, and I'm not going to pay a cent for the new, until this is resolved.

So I also have submitted via the feedback app. Case is still "open", with no comments. Same as two other open case that I submitted in ..... 2015.

Update - I just received this email from Apple, no resolution but nice to see they are still following up & the case is still open:

"Thanks for your patience. I wanted to update you on your case and was not able to reach you. I’m still waiting to hear from our engineers about your case and wanted to let you know that the fix will come in a form of software update.

In the meantime please continue to keep your devices up to date and report any changes and restarting both device may help mitigate the issue.

I hope you have a great rest of your day. If you have more questions, just reply to this email. I’m happy to help.

Thanks, "

I think you are right, but can you explain how you confirmed this? I tried to test it as well before and after getting in my car (CarPlay activates automatically). I called myself from another phone and my watch "rang." After returning from a trip in the car, I re-dialed myself and my watch "rang" again. But I did not answer either of those calls. If you could share how you tested it, I would like to try and replicate.

By any chance has anyone who has this problem also have a problem with Time To Leave notifications not working on calendar invites? This started happening at the same time when I bought my Apple Watch 6 (I upgraded to an iPhone 12 at the same time). I find it coincidental that both of these things started happening at the same time. And, I also did test invites before and after CarPlay activates and Time To Leave notifications seem to stop working afterwards.
