The watch just updated to 7.0.2 and is now not displaying incoming calls but it is able to make calls? I reset the watch and it is still not working....

I have an open case with Apple Enterprise support on this issue for the last few weeks. They have pulled diagnostic logs from my phone and watch multiple times. They seem eager and willing to find the issue. In my experience in troubleshooting this I feel it is vehicle specific. I have a 2020 Hyundai Palisade with wired CarPlay that has the problem. My older Nissan with an aftermarket CarPlay receiver has no issues. For me, the issue occurs only when I cut the car off and open the door so the infotainment system then shuts off "before" I pull the lighting cable, about 90% of the way I do it. If I pull the cable from my phone before CarPlay shuts off I NEVER have the issue. I have tested and tested this so many times I've lost count. I think it has something to do with the way the vehicle is sending a disconnect or maybe not sending the disconnect command to the phone so perhaps the phone still think it's connected to CarPlay in some way. Rebooting the phone resets this. This would explain why it doesn't happen to everyone. For the wireless CarPlay users if you turn off WIFI before you shutoff your vehicle do you still have the issue? I think there have been several posts that this was proven true. For you wired folks like me, if you unplug the lightning cable before your CarPlay turns off does your watch ring normally every time? I am sending more diags to Apple once I get home today as requested by Apple Engineers. I am very hopeful we are getting to a resolution with this.

My Apple Watch series 6 allows me to receive FaceTime Audio calls and iMessages as long as they are through my Apple ID. I won’t receive regular calls or SMS messages unless my phone is with me. I can call and text from the watch without the phone and on the cellular network. (The cell service option only works one way). It isn’t CarPlay because I have rebooted multiple times, re Paired the watch to the phone both using restore from backup and setting up as a new phone. Could there be a problem from owning a previous watch version? I erased my older watch series 3 so it shouldn’t affect the connection. When I originally paired the series 6 I didn’t think to unpair this one first

hello, have you been able to find any answers to this? I see someone replied about CarPlay. Mine is not connected to CarPlay so I know that is not the issue, for me. I am still within the return period for the watch so I’d like to figure this one out before that ends ;)

disregard, my wife’s car has CarPlay so that may actually be the issue. I’ll reboot and see if it fixes the problem. Either way, I hope they launch a patch for this to solve the issue instead of having to reboot each time.

Apple support was supposed to call back last evening and didn’t. I’ll have to reach someone today. My watch won’t get incoming calls but I can call out. It’s not a cellular issue. I can only get calls when I have my phone with me. Any other ideas besides reboot, disable CarPlay and reboot, un pair and reset watch as a new watch (not restore from backup)?

Sounds like everyone is basically having the same issue. I’ve tested many scenarios since my original post and have come up with no “real” fix. I guess I’ll return the darn thing until it either gets fixed in a patch or until the 7 comes out and has a fix. Kinda defeats half the purpose of having one. Good thing is, Apple is usually really good about putting out patches for things like this. Waaaaaayyyyy better than android phones 😉

Still happening with the latest updates. So frustrating. I have to believe this isn't happening to everyone with an Apple Watch and CarPlay, or else Apple would have fixed it by now. But from the comments here it seems to happen to a variety of phones/watch models, and both wired and wireless CarPlay. Not sure what else we can do but wait and file feedback.
