vmware fusion 12 player doesn't load bootcamp partition, parallels does, just the way it is?

Tried vmware because it recently became free, when I tried to use my bootcamp partition it says failed error or something along those lines and didn't even start, then it thought it was windows 7, but it was windows 10. Maybe because it's a legacy bios bootcamp partition is what vmware has trouble with.

Parallels picked it up and it ran decently, , then my trial ran out and parallels is $$$pensive. I'm too lazy to reboot though.

but then it says failed, probably because it's player not fusion.

Your screen shot is from VMware Fusion, not VMware Workstation Player (which is Windows-only).

Thanks for confirming it was an issue with my system, must be the legacy bios thing, mine failed vmmon and a whole bunch of other things, but that was after it didn't even start to install. oh well, good to know if I ever get a new mac I'll have a free bootcamp vm.

Was just about to try and apply something I read in a kb fix article, and it worked fine, I think because my pc wasn't stressed at the time of trying to run install it, it was idle, parallels also didn't work when my pc was stressed. Anyway, good stuff, save money. Was slow, more ram will help.

Try to find an older version of VMplayer. Let me check if the VMplayer will allow a VM sourced from an EFI installation on a 2018 MBP.

Did you reboot your Mac after you installed the Player?

Also, it does not seem to install on macOS Mojave, but does work on macOS Catalina.
