Screen Capture Freezes in IOS 14

I take a lot of screen captures (photos not video) and email them. Never had an issue before. However, since IOS14 I'm getting a lot of lag and or freezing. I've tried everything I know of to rectify but continues to happen.

Found a Solution

Requested from Apple for service, they sent to Best Buy, they couldn’t do and I had to go to Apple store. They said everything was fine. Told them random automatic restarts, freeze when screen shots, lagging for no reason. They did “diagnostics” in 2 steps, first software and second was hardware. Both came out good, of course, why would they own it. Guy advised me to go complete clean erase, when fresh setting up your iPhone, do not opt for any backup, meaning you start fresh. However, if you backed up youth photos, messages, contacts and other essential stuff, when you login, they should all come back. Only issue is to reinstall every old app manually. Now my 12 pro max doesn’t lag, no restarts or screenshot freeze. So the problem was to restore a backup from the old phone.

Just wanted to check in and say that I am also having the same issues and have done throughout all the recent iOS updates, on an iPhone 11 Pro.

Sometimes my phone freezes completely when trying to send a screenshot, sometimes the screenshot edit screen doesn’t appear, but the screenshot will be in my albums, sometimes nothing appears then 5 jump on screen all at once. When I turn my phone on and off, the issues clears for a while, but soon returns.

Bizarrely my fiend with the same phone has never experienced any of this. What is going on here?

Example photo of when it freezes attempting to send a screenshot.

OK, this might not help anyone, but I hope Apple is reading this!

I read somewhere online that the persistent iPhone freezing issue when taking a screenshot may be related to a spike in device memory usage causing the phone’s software to freeze. For so long we have been told by many tech reviews that IOS does not require as much RAM as Android due to it’s superior memory management. Could it be that, with the increase in multitasking nowadays, the limits of this clever memory management are being reached?

What is worrying is that this is happening even on iPhone 12 Pro which has 6gb, up from 4gb on the iPhone 11 Pro series.

Perhaps the ‘frugal’ approach of Apple to phone memory is taking its toll :(

Give us more RAM apple, it can’t be that expensive, your loyal customers deserve your generosity and a phone that is functional and suited to the more heavy pattern of usage!

My phone has been freezing up for months like this. The only way to get out of the freeze is to put phone on Sby (PWR button). Then it's ok again and you can find your screen capture in the photos, but I can immediately crop it or send it while frozen. It's super annoying. Is there a fix yet for this?

Apple please help.

Yes this helps. As I mentioned apple pulled my logs not to long ago and are confident they will find a solution. At first I too thought it was memory but it’s not. Leading theory is it could be a specific app we are all using that others that do not ha e the issue are not. For most people it happens across different phones. Mine does it on my 12 my 11 and an 8 plus. But as you know not all users of these phones are getting this. The senior tech I dealt with said he’s a heavy screen capture user and never had the issue. Thus back to the theory it could be a common app amongst those with an issue. Hopefully a fix is soon.

Exactly my thoughts. Also when I did the work with the Apple senior tech to log my phone we both suspected that it was probably a specific application that we were all using. So I assume by deleting all your apps and adding them back one at a time might correct it who who wants to go through all that and lose data from the apps etc. I’m still hoping they come up with a fix in a future update. The last update came only a couple days after we finish the login so I didn’t expect it to be there let’s see if it’s in the next update.

I do a lot of screen shotting and sharing through iMessage and I have been having a ton of freezing issues now. I NEVER had this problem before iOS14. And I’m using an 11 Pro. Please stop asking ridiculous questions and forward this to the right people and get this fixed on the next update. Very frustrating buying a $1000 phone and having you guys sabotage (unintentionally) it with software (including worse battery performance).

Yep, same thing happens to me. I waited for 14.2 to update my phone from ios13 because of all the glitches, and my phone has never been so ******. So disappointed in Apple products lately. I have been using Apple since they came out with phones and have never switched over. I feel like all these issues since iOS 14 sound like Android people problems, not Apple.
