Apple Watch - Walkie Talkie - New Conversation, my iPhone starts ringing!

Hi, any joy with Apple?

I've also spend a couple of calls with them yesterday - to no avail. Was asked to sign out and back in to facetime on both devices; unpair and pair the watch on both devices.. still no joy,.

I have used chat support and nothing has helped. Now I’m playing with FaceTime settings. Apart entry I had announce calls set to headphones and car. I figure if I play with different settings, it might stop. Most recent iOS and watchOS are installed. I have a 11 pro max and series 3 Nike+. This is beyond frustrating.

Having the same issue (14.2 and 7.1). Not going to waste my time with calling support since I don't feel like doing more rounds of pairing/unpairing/rebooting that won't solve anything. Hopefully will be fixed in a future software update. Sounds like other people have already gotten it escalated to engineering so I'm not going to waste an hour filing another bug report on this.

Having same issue. I have an iPhone 8plus and I have an Series5 and Series6, both do the same thing! My phone rings when someone tries to walkie talkie me. If I open the green bar on my phone, it disconnects my walkie talkie session and shows Call Failed. So annoying!

I have this exact same issue too. I'm glad it's not just unique to me. I was about ready to erase the Watch and re-pair it, but maybe I don't need to do this. Just need to wait for an iOS and Watch update, perhaps?

I wasn't experiencing this issue before. However, "before" was with an iPhone XS and Watch 4. When that phone died (suddenly!), I switched to an iPhone 12 Pro and then I saw the problem. I'd think this is more of a software issue? Has Apple Engineering hinted?

Interesting. I didn't see this issue with my iPhone XS either and it was on iOS 14.1 (or whatever was just a dot version behind this current one). It could still be a software issue? I suppose iPhone 12 models use a different modem, etc. and maybe software needs to adjust for it? Don't know.

Is Engineering acknowledging this as a bug or have they found workarounds or fixes?

Glad I'm not the only one having this issue. My wife and I just got the SE watches and updated iOS on phones (14.2) and watches (7.2). A call to Apple support was no help and the tech didn't know what else to try to get things working. Hopefully a new iOS will fix this bug.

This sorta suggests to me that this update may not have directly fixed the issue but whatever fixes it made, it inadvertently affected Walkie Talkie and 'fixed' it for some while not for others...? Maybe?

Well, this afternoon the whole thing Failed. When someone initiated Walkie talkie even when my phone and Watch were awake, the phone not only rang once, it kept ringing like a phone call, worse than before.

What is odd is that for me sometimes it works as WT and sometimes it goes as a call. However, anyone I already have as a contact in WT can contact me via WT with no issue. Outbound it’s hit or miss for me. Most of you are saying all or nothing...or do you want all see the hit or miss as well?

I got excited as it’s started working fine for few days. My happiness was short lived hahaha, I had to restart my phone and the problem came back, and now I am getting phone calls when I use the walkie talkie🤦🏻‍♀️

Same issue here.

iWatch series 6 with os 7.1 and iPhone 11 Pro with 14.2.

The issue was gone for a short time after latest software update and then came back.

Spoke with Apple and waiting for a call back tomorrow after the issue will be discussed with the engineers.

i have iOS 14.2 and my wife also

she does not have that issue

but I see an update available for ios14.2.1

she does not have that update available

would this be the solution

or is just related to iPhone 12 , pro and max
