iPhone 12 not getting notifications

I set up my new device, and my notification settings are turned on and the same as my previous phone, but I am not getting notifications on the new device. My old device, connected to Wi-Fi, is getting notifications. Again the settings I checked and they are all the same on both devices.

Can someone please help me to get my notifications?

Thank you

  1. Go to General > iOS Storage.
    • On some older iOS versions, it is called Storage & iCloud Usage.
    • If you select that option, choose Manage Storage on the next page.
  1. Tap the Hangouts app from the list to see how much space the app is taking up
    • It should show how much space is the app itself or just its associated documents and data.
  1. Select Delete App
  2. Confirm it once more to remove the app from your iOS device.
  3. Go to iTunes store and install Hangouts iOS app
  4. Accept all permissions.
  5. Test.
  6. If you still have issues, send in-app feedback from the classic Hangouts app.

This is miserable. No message notifications or phone call notifications, or even emails when my phone is locked. Settings are all correct, everything has been double and triple checked. I am running a business and we all use these phones for a business lines. None of us have any way to know if someone is trying to contact us. Response almost 1200 per phone on this was the biggest investment waste of money we have ever made. This is a huge setback for Apple products and the fact that it has been broken for over a month with no repair in sight and no comment is absurd. Has anyone heard of any news about what to do. At this point I want to take all of our phones back but our old phones were disposed of so we have no other phones to add back to our company line. 😭😭

This isn’t going to help much, but try setting up one phone from new manually, with no restore, update to the latest IOS from iTunes if at all possible and see what happens. I’m debating whether to resort to this, when I tried it before notifications were coming through OK. Also, can you use a different mail client, Google Mail maybe? It is working for me, and I’m putting all my mail accounts on it. I agree with you, and after years of new iPhones this is the first time I’m rather disappointed with a brand new phone and wishing I’d stayed with my 11 Pro! If I get any feedback from Apple I’ll post here.

It’s so unbelievable that we’re all having the same problem… I have no clue how I fixed my new iPhone 12 or Apple customer support did because I was on the phone with them, was able to see my previous phone under one of the settings and once I removed it I started getting notifications as normal and now my iPhone 12 is perfect… I suggest may be going to your Apple ID and removing old phones from it on the bottom.

I have the same problem. Sometimes I will receive notifications from text messages, but other times I won’t. It’s like the message is there in my messages, but my phone wont go off, display the banner, the app icon, or show it in my lock screen. My notifications are on and I haven’t muted anyone in my messages. iPhone 12 for reference. Seems like it happened after my phone updated, but not sure. Super annoying because texting is my primary mode of communication.

I am having the same issues on my 12 mini after switching over from an android device. I purchased two 12 minis. 1 for me and 1 for my wife. My wife migrated from another iphone. SHE is getting notifications for the same apps that I am not getting them from. Our settings are exactly the same. This is certainly a conundrum and after using an android and or windows based phones for 21 years this is not a good start.

So guys.. I fed up w this diy troubleshooting. I have called apple support for so many times and I insist that they booked me a service appointment at nearest service centre.

I went there and they tried again every troubleshoots I have tried, no avail. Last resort is to format the phone and it fixed. They even wanna charge me 50bucks for a format of a brand new phone’s. Well, I 99% believe most of you have the same notif issue as I was.

So, go here guys. Settings > General >Reset > Erase all content & settings. (Not network, not all settings but also with the contents) Set up as new phone. Note that you will lost all data. Yes, you have the options to restore but the notification culprit is the data from your previous/old phone.

The catch is to let go of your old data.

So, assuming u okay with these, right after setting up, don’t opt for the restore/any data retrieving from backup. Install IG and go ahead. Worked for me. Hopefully’ll work for u guys too. I did have a problem though after the fix. My Find My wasn’t locating my friends. “Locations not found”. Anyway, goodluck

Thanks for this. I’ve just finished a chat enquiring about my case from 2 weeks ago, and was told the same thing. It’s not a hardware fault, it’s something in the restore causing the problems. I’ve also been advised to completely wipe the phone and set it up manually from new. At least if it worked for you, there hope that spending the time doing all this will cure all of the issues. I’ve got the Lidar issue too, where I can’t measure a persons height. I’m fed up with having to keep checking the phone for mail etc so I’m going to reset the phone a little later on. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Can anyone help me here please? I’ve just spent hours resetting my phone, only to discover this messes up my watch! I’ve given up at the minute and restored the phone again. The logic is, backup phone and watch. Completely rebuild phone from new, which means the watch can’t ‘see’ the backup as the phone doesn’t recognise it either since it’s a ‘new’ phone, having been restored. Am I getting this all wrong, or is there some other way round it please? Also, what about app data, on a new install download the apps aren’t downloading my data. Sorry, but I’m now so confused and fed up with the whole thing. Thank you

Yeah correct. The logic is, to set up phone and watch as new. Too bad I don’t have an iWatch so I wouldn’t know exactly how. Try to reset and setup your watch as new. When u ON ur watch, there should be pairing options, from backup or set up as new. Get the 2nd option.

As for the app data, I believe its completely gone. Just sign in to ur apple ID. Completely new reset phone will automatically loads some basic settings w your iCloud. All the other contents and data are gone (or in backup if u did one). However, I don’t recommend u to backup since that wouldn’t solve the notif issue. Like I said, this would be a total new phone without backup. U have to manually sign in each app (fb,ig,snapchat etc) all over again. Hope that helps.

I have the same issue. My iPhone 12 misses text notifications. I will not know if someone responded to me unless I open the messaging app and go into our conversation. All my settings are correct. I have spoken with 3 people and they could not figure it out. I was instructed to reset all settings and that did not work. I have the recent software update and still have the issue.
