iPhone 12 not getting notifications

I set up my new device, and my notification settings are turned on and the same as my previous phone, but I am not getting notifications on the new device. My old device, connected to Wi-Fi, is getting notifications. Again the settings I checked and they are all the same on both devices.

Can someone please help me to get my notifications?

Thank you

  1. Go to General > iOS Storage.
    • On some older iOS versions, it is called Storage & iCloud Usage.
    • If you select that option, choose Manage Storage on the next page.
  1. Tap the Hangouts app from the list to see how much space the app is taking up
    • It should show how much space is the app itself or just its associated documents and data.
  1. Select Delete App
  2. Confirm it once more to remove the app from your iOS device.
  3. Go to iTunes store and install Hangouts iOS app
  4. Accept all permissions.
  5. Test.
  6. If you still have issues, send in-app feedback from the classic Hangouts app.

I am not getting notifications on my new 12 Pro Max and missing messages from work - not good! I also cannot receive calls or FT from my wife's phone-just her phone. I can receive sms texts from her but can't send IMessage or sms to her (yes, IMessage is on, yes, I've reset everything, yes, notifications are set to always, blah, blah). We both have the latest updates and nothing is working between our phones.

I feel for you, I’m now having trouble with SMS as well as email, and had to do a force restart in order to read my message which flashed on the Lock Screen, disappeared when I swiped up and all that remained was a message indicator on the app with no content when opened. I wish for everyone’s sake that Apple would tell us if there was a software issue with a timeframe to fix it. You have to train yourself to keep looking at the phone regularly to see if you have mail etc!

My iPhone 12 pro had the same issue of not sending or receiving text messages. I had just updated it "transferring" from iPhone 6. Nothing Apple recommended helped until a friend told me that I had to transfer the chip from the old phone to the new one. WOW, how come the instruction that came for the iPhone 12 never pointed this out. Really annoying!

I see Apple was aware of this issue over a month ago and no responses since. We have tried all of the troubleshooting we can do on our end. It is a huge bug that needs to be fixed BY APPLE. I just got my new iPhone 12 pro max yesterday and have had a heck of a time figuring out which apps aren’t giving notifications. We have checked the settings. We have reinstalled apps. We have reset settings. Some have even done a full restore and set up without their backups. When can we get an acknowledgment at the very least that it is an issue you are working on?

This sounds very similar to problem I'm having with iPhone SE (original, iOS 14.2) and new Apple Watch Series 6. I posted my problem in detail in the Using Watch thread - basic issue is intermittently do not get Notifications for texts on either my iphone or my Watch (but they come through on my iPads, both new and ancient). So now I'm thinking the problem is with the iPhone. Today I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with Apple Support, no resolution (end of the session was that I should wait for 14.2.1 update and see if fixes and if not call back. Agent had me restore my Watch to New (wiping out all my data); that didn't fix. Too weary of this to go through all the details, some already posted on my thread in Using Watch thread.

My focus has been on interaction between phone/watch, but seeing posts here, seems like it's just the phone (and iOS 14.2). I had no problems until recently though, like only a couple weeks

I had a similar problem yesterday got a text message on my watch but it didn’t show up on my phone. Apple has some serious issues with iOS 14 all you can do is be patient and wait for a software update. By the way Apple support is somewhat useless. Almost always they will tell you to erase and re-install and almost always that’s not the fix.

I was told yesterday that Apple are releasing new software in the next few days, all we can do is wait and see and hope it fixes all the problems. I’d say it’s. Wry likely that it’s a phone software issue, and not the watch. Unless you have a cellular watch all of the notifications etc are passed through via the phone. I have my watch set to Mirror my Phone for notifications. I’m certainly doing nothing more now, like you, all my problems started a few weeks ago, maybe coincidentally when I bought the new phone. It cold we’ll be that the software somehow isn’t getting along with the newer phones and watches.

Definitely NOT your new phone, since I'm having same issues with my original SE (old!)

I'm REALLY disappointed in Apple Support that when I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with them yesterday the agent was not able to find any information such as you all have posted here. So many people (thousands on this forum, and at least some have opened cases; Apple support people should have been provided this information. I was addressing from the Watch perspective, hadn't considered my phone was the problem (but I should have, just that the Watch was new for me and so I assumed was that). So, at first I only was looking on the Watch thread of this Discussion forum.

A problem this widespread should at the very least be known (or readily available) information to Apple Support Staff. I'm not blaming the agent, am assuming they have a database to search for known issues and the person would have done that

I had a watch series 6 working perfectly along with my old 11 Pro, my husband has my old phone, also working perfectly with his series 6 watch. What I now seem to have after multiple reloads is notifications for email mostly (but not always) appearing on the lock screen with sound, unless I’m wearing my watch, in which case I’m getting notifications on both, but no sound! Unless I use the Gmail mail app which is working perfectly. My SMS problems seem to have resolved themselves too, and thankfully, the phone is now backing itself up. It’s so hard to pin down likely causes, and wastes such a lot of time. It felt as though I had sync problems with iCloud and the phone was set to DND all the time. At least I now have a £1000 phone which is functioning reasonably normally, had I had any idea what a pain this was going to be, I’d have stuck with the 11 Pro! Let’s hope it’s all resolved with software updates, best advice for the moment I think is just to wait, the more you change things the worse it gets.

I have found that the only way to get the notifications on my phone is to ensure it’s not connected to anything Bluetooth. I’ve even stopped wearing my watch as when my phone was connected to that I would not get notifications. Turn Bluetooth off and make sure it’s not connected to anything else and I get notifications as normal
