iPhone 12 not getting notifications

I set up my new device, and my notification settings are turned on and the same as my previous phone, but I am not getting notifications on the new device. My old device, connected to Wi-Fi, is getting notifications. Again the settings I checked and they are all the same on both devices.

Can someone please help me to get my notifications?

Thank you

  1. Go to General > iOS Storage.
    • On some older iOS versions, it is called Storage & iCloud Usage.
    • If you select that option, choose Manage Storage on the next page.
  1. Tap the Hangouts app from the list to see how much space the app is taking up
    • It should show how much space is the app itself or just its associated documents and data.
  1. Select Delete App
  2. Confirm it once more to remove the app from your iOS device.
  3. Go to iTunes store and install Hangouts iOS app
  4. Accept all permissions.
  5. Test.
  6. If you still have issues, send in-app feedback from the classic Hangouts app.

I wouldn’t delete any apps. My wife’s phone is not getting notifications and all she has done is updated to iOS 14 it’s not a phone issues it’s software.

mans I can’t delete my message app and re install it plus apps I’ve installed recently I wasn’t getting any notifications.

all I’ve worked out so far is if you turn your Bluetooth off and all notifications work again

You do NOT have to log in to every application. A lot of them that have logins yes, you do have to log in to get the notifications. Not all of them and for many you may have saved the password and log in with Apple's password helper and it will have downloaded when you downloaded the backup. With a LOT of apps there isn't a log in, but you DO seem to have to OPEN AND CLOSE THE APP all the way to get notifications. By which I mean make sure you force close or swipe close or whatever the app. DO NOT open it and just go to the Home screen leaving it open in the background.

I’ve had my 12 Pro Max for a couple of months and it just this week stopped all text message and iMessage notifications. I am running the most current software as of 01/06/2021 and have deleted my previous iPhone and removed it from my account when I got this one. Extremely frustrating missing texts from clients for their appointments, particularly during COVID, when I have to manage several appointments every day via text. I have reset the phone. I have swipe closed the message app. Still nothing. Why it has worked fine since November and suddenly stopped, I don’t know. Help us, Apple!!!!!!

Same and I have been having this issue since day one of the phone (October) Apple support tells me basically I am tripping every single time. I have had MULTIPLE issues with this phone since day one of which maybe only one or two have been resolved and EVERY time they tell me I am tripping. I miss my iphone 6s lol. Might have been old but she never let me down. This is a $1600 piece of junk and is unacceptable that Apple does nothing. :(

I am just an new Iphone 12 owner since yesterday. I sought a solution to notifications online and found a few clues. I opened every application and logged in for the first time on the new phone. Then I turned Bluetooth on and off a couple of times. Then I turned the phone off a couple of times. Eventually, I began to get messages, Nest notifications, and notifications from other apps. I also had notifications showing up on the old phone through WIFI connection.

About 5 hours after I got home, my 12 was working as it should. Good luck; hope this helps you.

I had to restore my device and set it up as a new phone without transferring data back to it for it to work. If you have to do this, turn on all iCloud features before doing so (to migrate as much data as possible) and wait for everything to upload to iCloud. Go to Settings > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings and sign back in to iCloud during the setup. You will have some data loss and have to download apps manually but this is the only way I found it to work. Hope this helps.

Has anyone received a fix to this? I am having the same issue. I upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max recently. I transferred everything to the new phone yesterday and I am only receiving notifications from a couple apps. Meanwhile all of my notifications are going to the old phone. All of my notifications settings are identical on both phones. I checked my iPhone notification settings and each individual app’s in app notification settings. This is really annoying.

Hi--I am not an Apple expert. Try opening each app on your new phone and logging in. Then reset Bluetooth connection a couple of times. Then restart your Iphone once or twice.

Here's why that fixes some notification problems: your new Iphone is NOT automatically connecting to the apps with your log-in info (some of them accept face recognition so you have to go thru the steps on each app). You can see the apps and see the settings, but you can't tell they are NOT logged in on your new phone. Turning Bluetooth on & off and restart just clears out old settings.

It worked for me--I had same thing as you a few days ago--now it all works fine. Maybe Apple hasn't done a very good job telling new owners what steps they have to take with a new phone. Like many, I upgraded from Iphone 6--an ancient device that I knew very well. I had to figure the rest out myself. Hope this helps you.

Nothing really helpful yet.... it’s mainly ALL my text messages I’m not getting notifications for, so not an app that I downloaded.

rarely will it make the notification sound as well has rarely showing I have texts that are “unread.”

when I click on a persons name to text them, I’ll only then see they had sent me something, as if it’s already been read.

SAME PROBLEM January 14, 2021 after I just activated my brand new iPhone 12 Pro and upgraded to iOS 14.3. All notifications settings turned on... no notifications at all...pick up my phone to check and find there were texts that came in. This is really frustrating as buggy notification problems was one of the primary reasons for finally upgrading from my 6 plus.

I also have really spotty and useless notification alerts. For instance, I have banners/badges/sounds all turned ON for my Nest doorbell. Banners happen reliably, sounds happen sometimes (about 50% of the time there's a banner but no sound of any kind) and app badges never happen at all. Similar with texts; banners always work, sounds work maybe 50% of the time, but for the text app badges DO work.

Notifications in the latest version of iOs are BROKEN.
