Is the IPhone 12 shooting dolby vision HDR by default?

If so it may be that the sharing sites can't handle that. Try turning HDR off - or converting the videos back to standard.

Try:

settings> camera > format > most compatible.

note: this works only if you take new pics and videos. After you change the settings.

This may have to do with the camera format of the iPhone 12.

To fix, go to Settings > Camara > Format. Select "Most Compatible".

Note: this setting also affects video.

same issue is not only YouTube or any 3rd party video portals

even Apple own iMovie for Mac OS has same issue - I took videos with 12 Pro in HDR mode and opened in iMovie on Mac for post production - looks so horrible, bleached. Suggestion was to switch off HDR video mode but if so that HDR feature is useless then.

I found a way to avoid this without changing settings. You can screen record your video that has already been taken in HDR. Only downside is you lose any recorded noise in the video, or at least I did.

Once I uploaded the screen recorded video to Instagram it was no longer overexposed.

I found how to fix the oversized on IG. I simply deleted Instagram and re downloaded it with the new update and BOOM, it was fixed !!!

I had same problem. Video was ok when i look at Photos but when I had it posted on Instagram and Facebook it became overexposed. But when others look at my story and post it was ok like nothing wrong.

Same here! I also cannot send my camera-taken videos in the Instagram DM’s with the original look, it’ll be sending it overexposed a bit as well. So I would have to take videos through Instagram to make it work. I also cannot edit or upload my videos on other apps like “Meitu” and Tiktok because I’ll be having the same issue on there. Tiktok, the videos will come out super laggy and bright. Meitu can’t even edit my videos and it won’t play them.

Not blame. Ownership. Apple does not own how Instagram processes uploaded video for use on "their" platform.

Would you hold Instagram accountable for how Apple manages Apple ID's? The App store?

i’ve got the same problem. Tried it on Instagram Story, normal Instagram post, and Facebook stories, doesn’t matter if it’s filmed with 0,5x or 1x always the same problem. Already called apple but they don’t know anything. Wrote messages to instagram and Facebook as well but as usual no answer..

the weird thing is as well, that not everyone of your followers sees that problem on your post.

i made a survey and from 308 people 44 saw the problem when they looked at my stories, 31 of them saw the story as they should - very normal.

I'm having the same issue. It's not just instagram. Youtube, facebook, even viewing on my mac. They're all bleached. Wondering if I should return my iphone 12 and get an iphone 11. Stuff in blue is from my old iphone 7. Stuff in red is from my iphone 12. This is ridiculous.

It's not Instagram. Same issue in Final Cut Pro and iMovie.

I have the same problem! I did a poll asking my followers if they saw my videos normally or over exposed and it seems like an almost even split! Very confused why that would be the case. Instagram having no real customer service is once again causing major frustration to its users!!
